Default NYC Elementary Teacher Admits Being Craigslist Prostitute

I don't remember seeing this elsewhere. Wish I teachers like that.

Anyone got any thoughts on this?

That goes to show that our teachers aren't paid nearly enough.

It happened in Phoenix about a year ago. Well reviewed, high class provider.....full time, married w/ kids school teacher. She didn't get busted, but someone outed her and she lost her job. Her teaching reputation was nothing but stellar. I wish she hadn't shown her face on her website.

My sis in law is a teacher. Our government should be hanging it's head in shame over the treatment and salary of our teachers. It's a true tragedy. Sadly, less young people are considering a career in teaching. What will we do then?

No where does it say she was working while teaching. She became a teacher after the fact so obviously the money had nothing to do it. She had reached tenure and probably on easy street.

To play the devils advocate, for every good teacher, there are scores who are just collecting a check. I run across many daily. Really sickening. Our education system is in dire straits and we're falling fast. Pay scale is only a small part of the equation and new teachers are not nearly up to the task. Instead of bailing out Wall Street, we should bail out our education system.

Go and see Waiting for Superman. There are great teachers out there but unfortunately they are out numbered by bad ones. It is a catch 22 and dare I say I agree with Sa artman. Our education system is in dire straits.

On NYC TV news they said she started withthe NYC Schools in August of 2007. But one has to wonder why did she blog about it and "come out."

Treatment? Yes, many urban school systems still refuse to provide a safe, respectful place for teachers to work.

Salary? I have many friends that are teachers with as much experience and education level as I have, and they make about (a few make more) than I do. Plus theirs is based on 10 months of work. And the benefits and retirement and job security is unparalleled compared to private sector.

A teacher friend told me of an opening this past year, (good suburban district), for a chemistry teacher at his high school, had over 100 applicants.

What will we do then? Peruse YouTube for very low cost, expert on-line tutoring especially in math and sciences. It's amazing what the technology is doing to make alternative education methods available.
