Who's really the prick?
In light of the security threads (TSA etc) that pop up in here, I thought this article was interesting if embarrassing. The bottom line is that even though this kid wasn't arrested, it's an issue of moral turpitude..and an arrestable crime (which this was..even though he wasn't arrested) that involves moral turpitude against an American Citizen mandates an instant ban on entering the country. It works both ways...the UK apply the same due process to non-citizens who do the same thing to UK nationals.
Thinking Obama is a prick is one thing..telling him is another. What a dope.

So, if we can trick folks South of the border into dissing the President they'll finally do something about the border?

Frankly...if this is the whole story?...I guess this does surprise me. I wouldn't have thought calling the Prez a "prick" would qualify as a banning offense. I would imagine that a lot of Prez's have been called a lot worse.
It...of course...is no sweat off my brow...but it does surprise me.

True enough!
Let's just say, completely separate from any human rights issues, that a nation without borders will not long be a nation; and both parties have shown an inclination to ignore our borders.

I'm shocked and appalled that the authority exists to ban someone from entering this country for such a petty and minor transgression (assuming it's a transgression at all). I think that the citizen of another country has as much right to form an opinion about our President as any American and calling him a "prick" should be protected speech. Just horrible.

Aww...glad you think the prick issue isn't really enough to warrant a ban...though it was stupid. What a muppet. I think the point that is being downplayed is that he threatened the POTUS. I think THAT got him the ban lol (hence moral turpitude bit). Kid obviously admitted to being drunk and in charge of a PC so a bit of TWI...or as we say in England typing whilst trollied. I wonder what he threatened him with? A John Smiths bitter drinking challenge? Who could scoff the most pie and pies in under 5 mins?
C xx
WTF: Calling someone a dope isn't hating. It's just..well...calling them a dope. Or a muppet

Now ya'll quit hating on Lohan. I love redheads. Also she has worked harder than most Americans this year and deservers 'mo' equal justice than most
A Bedfordshire Police spokesman said: 'The individual sent an email to the White House full of abusive and threatening language.'
Look folks, there are things you can't joke about in the airport or on a plane. Same with threatening our Prez. You can't do it, period. Call Obama a prick all you want, he does come off as a prick at times come to think of it.

Well I have to agree he is a prick. Threatening anyone shouldn't happen. When you joke at airports, you are jokingly threatening other passangers safety. The fact that the American president is such a target is why threats against him are so carefully scrutinized.

I think it depends on the nature of the threat. Did he threaten to write a letter to The Guardian exposing the perfidy and uselessness of his policies in Afghanistan? Did he threaten to denounce him at Speaker's Corner on Sunday? Did he threaten to turn him over to the Hague War Crimes Tribunal? Or was it a credible threat of actual imminent violence? Unless it was the latter, I think it's irrelevant that there was a threat.
