Default Any ladies and gentlemen in this arena in Houston - leads to a "foodie" question.

It seems this is a national thread. That's lovely. New people to meet when traveling. As a self proclaimed "foodie" any favorite restaurants you love that can be found in any city?

in San Antonio: Il Sono, Le Frit, Cioa are my favorites. If you came to San Antonio would love to take you but since I know the people that would not be too intelligent!!

It depends upon what you like....

Steak? The original Pappa's on Westheimer just outside the Galleria

Seafood? RedFish...off the 249 feeder road outside Beltway 8 (actually a little further out than that but I can't recall the name of the cross street)

Sushi? Kaneyama on Westheimer just inside Gessner

Americana? Mark's on Westheimer just inside 610

I think that Mark's is unquestionably Houston's best restaurant for fine dining.

Steak - Brenner's Steak House on I-10
Itallian - Tradional - Vinoteca / American Style - Maggiano's
Mex-Mex - Hugo's or Pico's
Tex-Mex - Pappasito's
Seafood - Truluck's
American - Mark's like Sys said and Frank's Chop House
Breakfast - The Breakfast Klub

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Wine Bar: I love Cova on Washington (and there is a difference - not recommending the one on Kirby) -- just had a ZD Cabernet and a mushroom risotto with red wine reduction and mushrooms and braised short ribs. YUM! Great, affordable, food and service. I'm just a fan of Cova: Oporto is a close second - great tapas and wine...

BRC: Big Red Cock (get your mind out of the gutter - they have a big ole rooster out front). A grilled cheese sandwich to DIE for. braised ribs are involved. There is a trend here ;-) The Crab hushpuppies need to be eaten when melt-in-your-mouth hot.

Italian: vinoteca is great; owned by the more upscale Damarco, which is arguably the best restaurant in Houston, they also own Dolce Vita - which, at the lower end, has the most fun moitos in town.

Resturant Cavour is an 8 table Italian restaurant that is not to be missed - or soon forgotten....probably better than Damarco; but at that level, its all good....

Sushi: 400 Sage is amazing Sushi. I didn't even LIKE sushi until I found this place; while its pricey, its my local "go to" resturant, even if I don't crave sushi (never thought I WOULD crave sushi before Sage!). The owner is selective about her food and picks her fish daily - she rejects what doesn't meet her high standards - and it shows.

Pesce. Solidly good and too expensive. But really, really good.

Best Pork Chop in Houston is Perry's. Damn good. Great wine list and steaks...

Fancy Food: Marks. I didn't love it, but it seems to be on everyone's list and it IS good....

Max's Wine Dive; Fun combo;'s - think champagne and fried chicken or buffalo burger sliders that ROCK with a good pinot noir available by the glass.

I love Lulings BBQ sauce. Always avoid the sausage, but the sauce, with the brisket or ribs on a piece of parchment paper, eating outside so my dog can have the leftovers....just damn good stuff.

I love great food. Welcome to Houston!

I have culinary and hospitality training as well as being a chocolatier. I am from Houston but really eat out as I love cooking and love eating healthy. Angelina, with that sexy body, you must be watching your diet very carefully. A little chocolate daily though is a good thing in lots of ways.

Dark chocolate every night. The ladies in my family have been eating a small bit every night as long as I can recall.

Angelina, the key with dark chocolate is portion control. Daily consumption is wonderful for both body and mind. Too much can lead to weight gain. I would say an once a day is ideal and let it melt on your tongue so you can enjoy the full texture and flavor before you swallow.
