To me, and this is just to me, Jack was good technically, like he watched a lot of Cesar Romero on TV, and he naturally has a twisted kind of humor, but it's like Heath brought the true Joker out of himself; sick, demented, yet wildly logical... I dunno how to describe it. I don't think I've ever been more entertained watching an actor get into character my entire life.. he stole the show

Hmmm lemme see.......I agree with LD about both. Jack had Cesaer down pat. Heath lived it. I'm gonna call a tie.
Brokeback Mountain is still one of my favorite movies. I catch a lot of chit for it but it was a tragic love story.

Still haven't seen brokeback. But I'm in agreement with you both on the joker. Those were to great performances. Sad that Heath died so young.... He had a lot of talent

But if they ever remake Andalusian Dog (one of my favorites), he could reprise the role of the mule on the piano, now that he's dead. PETA would probably prevent the use of a new mule nowadays.

Really, they were two different movies and two different characters. Jack's character was more like the campy comic book and tv series Joker and he nailed it.
The Dark Knight's characters were way different than that, including Batman. Heath Ledger gave the Joker a whole new personality and he was awesome.
Maybe the better question is could they have reversed roles and still given Oscar worthy performances?
They are/were great actors. I think Ledger could have played the campy Joker that we are all used to. If Nicholson had played The Dark Knight's Joker I thinck it would have been a much different character than the one Ledger delivered.

If you can get past the gay issue it is a heartbreaking love story. After the first time I saw it I was sad for 3 days. I guess I'm a easy touch.........

I would have to say that depends on if you liked the more comical Batman movies or if you liked the darker and more sinister ones...

I agree I loved Jack Nicholsons Joker but there was deep, raw, unleashing of this character that just blew me away! Because of the darkness he was experiencing in life it just overlapped onto the screen. I have a movie trivia question for yall again? What was Laurence Fishburnes' acting debut?(Daphne I know you got it no fair, lol) Hint:its not Apocalypse Now.
This one is random too but im curious as to anyone being as much of a moviebuff/nerd as much as I am,lol Does anyone know Cynthia Nixons(Sex and the Citys' Miranda)' first role?

Just watched "The Naked Prey" on cable. It's from 1966 and is about a guy being chased by natives across Africa. Stars Cornell Wilde and surprisingly pretty good even though there si very little dialogue.
