For me there's a fine line between the good effects of alcohol and the bad. A fine line that can cause a lot of frustration for me.

So, I usually stay well under my limits if I'm going to be getting some hanky-panky later.

I also like to be as sharp and alert as possible when meeting someone new. In addition to keeping on my toes from a security standpoint, I like to be able to easily pick up on conversational or romantic cues I might miss after more than a couple of drinks. Also, I probably have to drive home that night!

That said, I love the booze.

I like sharing a bottle of wine over dinner, I like a cocktail with getting-to-know you (or catch up) conversation, I like hanging out and relaxing with a beer or two... it's pleasant.

I drink only when I am on the road. I never drink before a session because I'm afraid it will affect performance (that is something I know about my penis, lol). I don't mind a lady having a drink or two. I had one lady polish off a whole bottle of wine over 4 hours, and left a little tipsy.

Vodka and wine happen to be my beverages of choice as well. And BTW gents, Analisa has great taste when it comes to vodka and wine...so you might seriously consider enjoying a drink with her some time. Can't think of a better pleasure - except when she is sharing her sweet juices with you!

Enjoying a drink is one of the more social things that we do as humans - in or outside of the hobby. As part of a session, if it affects performance, yes, I agree I would not drink. If it enhances performance then why not indulge. But, certainly, if it something one enjoys then by all means please feel free to partake. I think it is perfectly fitting for a man and a lady to share a COCKtail together. Come to think of it, I think I'm ready for a cocktail right now...

I normally have a drink of Vodka before meeting a provider simply due to being nervous with someone new; then I worry that they'll think I'm a drinker if they notice. To me it's always unsettling the first time you meet and a drink truly helps. It's really about the only time I drink, except for wine at dinner.

Has anyone noticed how many different types of Vodkas are now available? I think Grey Goose started something amazing.

having a couple before or during the appt. You are right! It does seem to give me the "Viagra Effect" afterward. I like to relax when I am with a gentleman so a glass of wine helps.

Wow, looking at this thread makes me feel like maybe I'm a bit uptight compared to most. LOL

Obviously, alcohol affects judgment. And, because of differences in liver enzymes, it has a greater effect on women than men. I have no idea what the limits are for any individual -- that is something they need to figure out for themselves. I don't walk around with testing gear for alcohol and other intoxicants in my gym bag.

But when I encounter a woman, and she appears intoxicated, I will do my best through basic observation to ascertain the degree to which her judgment has been affected.

I do not believe it is possible for a substantively intoxicated woman who is seeing me for the first time to give valid consent. So if by observation I believe her to be substantively intoxicated, sex will simply not be allowed.

(I can give this logic to you in two ways. 1. Sex without consent is rape, and consent is not valid if given by an intoxicated person. I am not in the rape business. But if this logic is seen as unacceptable then ... 2. As a man, I have the same fundamental right as any woman to determine who has access to my body and under what terms. A substantively intoxicated woman I am encountering for the first time does not have my consent to touch my body in a sexual way. )

It's really just that simple for me. I make a good-faith judgment based upon observation and if I feel she is substantively impaired, she is not allowed to have sex with me because she can't give valid consent.

In practice, this has been more of an issue with civie ladies than providers; but in the one case where I encountered a provider who was that impaired, I just tucked her into bed, turned out the lights and kept an eye on her to make sure she was safe until she started to recover. (I was prepared to call an ambulance if she experienced problems with her pulse or respiration.) Evidently, she had taken a double-dose of some short-acting tranquilizer.

I have no idea how prevalent my mindset in this regard is among hobbyists. For all I know, I'm the only one who thinks this way.

But just in case I'm not, if providers are going to slug back a few drinks (or pop a few tranquilizers, etc.) before a hobbyist arrives; they should keep a VERY close eye on it; because it would really suck to get all dolled up only to have someone like myself refuse sex on the spot because he feels sex with you would be rape.

So by all means, have a few if that's your thing, but not so much that you'd appear impaired or your judgment would be badly affected.

Once we are on more familiar terms, I can cut a bit more slack on these things. But initially, when we're strangers, I'd rather err on the side of caution.

I don't have a problem with a warm up drink or two or sharing a drink prior to BCD.

I do think that anyone that needs to drink to some level intoxication so that being physically intimate with whatever is on the other side of the door is tolerable suggests this might not be the best vocation for that individual.

I’ve been "providing" since May 1, 2010 so I’m not quite desensitized enough for the wide variety of body types.
How about a physical description or a photo with the head cropped out? If you have a physical limitation due to an accident might be helpful too.

I'm not singling out drinking escorts. It kind of reminds me of reverse "beer goggles" an expression we used back in school...that is after enough beers, she'll look just fine.

I believe anyone that "needs" a drink to do anything: visiting the in-laws, listening to employee complaints, taking the kids to the movies or park, tolerating a stranger BCD etc. ought to think about things...
