Oshins...

You certainly are assuming a whole lot about me.

Let me make it simple for you...

In our school days, common sense was in control. Nowadays it is quite clear that, in a lot of situations, it is not.

Funny. I experienced just about all those first scenario things in the list as well. And I can honestly tell you without some of the "crushing" corporal punishments the coaches meted out there are just some lessons I would not have learned. There is great value inherent in corporal punishment when it is handed out correctly.

I was the kid who had the shotgun in his car, the knife in my pocket all the time, who left school to go hunting every afternoon during the season and fishing when it wasn't. I used the library to learn basic chemistry (you know those things called books before the internet) and messed around making pipe bombs and setting them off in stock tanks shocking fish. Yes I had a few fights in school and funny thing is those people I got in the fights with are still some of my best friends today!

We also used to get on our bikes and ride miles away from home and as long as we were home by sunset, no problem.

It seems to me you can trace all of the second scenario issues back to the feminization of America. Yes I said it! There was a time when men were raised to respect women and know their own place in the world. They held doors, stood when a lady entered the room and behaved according to the polite rules of society. This was true until someone violated those rules, insulted a woman, or threatened a man's family/person/close friends. Then it was time to step up! Show strength and kick ass. Not cower in terror over a fucking box cutter and let a plane be flown into a building.

I still can't get over being held hostage by a box cutter! My Grandfather and Father, both military men, would have stood up, taken it away and beat the shit out of someone like that and probably even asked the pilot to fly lower so they could toss the fucker out the door and watch him hit. Instead we have a generation who have become absolute pussies because they have been charged with assault in kindergarten for shooting a rubber band at someone. (Don't laugh this has happened in California) Been expelled for drawing a picture of a gun and also told winning means nothing as long as you participate. Fuck that! Winning and Losing teach valuable lessons to prepare for life!

So in conclusion here my children, since middle school, have been taught how to handle and shoot firearms and when to use them, how and when to fight and defend themselves and others who cannot, why it is important to critically think for yourselves and speak out their opinions forcefully and with respect. And most importantly, to love and defend the principles that keep them empowered to be able to do these things and not be sheep to be slaughtered or taken advantage of by a society that has allowed these things to happen causing the problems we see today.

And yes my daughter is still a strong, confident girl who knows her dad loves her, protects her, and adores her. She also knows how to take care of herself and when it is time to step up just like her brother does.

Sorry if I went off on a rant here but these things are of vast import to me and I truly believe if more kids were taught these realities and what their responsibilities are to themselves and others then we would live in a much better world today.

Texas Child Protective Services, if notified that you spanked your child and someone believes this is abuse, they can and do remove your child from the home. If they investigate and find that they feel your spanking was above what they consider appropriate they will turn the case over to the local district attorney for prosecution. This is happening here in Texas. Other liberal states are worse.

First: Mokoa, What exactly did I assume about you? Don't be so quick to think people are attacking you.

Second: How is any of this related tho what the schools do? Sounds a lot like what parents should be doing... not what parents should be asking the schools to do.

Good parenting doesn't need to involve spanking. Never spanked my child, straight A's, yes sir/no sir, opens doors for the ladies. This modern generation is fucked up because of parents. You can blame it on schools, try and blame the government or liberals, claim there's a loose morality abound, but when it comes down to it, spend some time with your child, show them right and wrong and respect and they'll have better tools to deal with the future, without having to lift a finger. Spanking is lazy parenting. Plain and simple.

You can blame it on ACLU. If spankings were still allowed in school and parents being accused of child abuse, we wouldn't have all these little hoodlums, punks, gang bangers etc. running around making trouble!

And stop with the my child has ADD/ADHD/USDA/KGB/AARP! Fuck, if the child version of me was diagnosed today, they'd have some damned acronym to label me with. My dad, principal & coaches just didn't tolerate the bullshit kids are getting away with today.

Some parents just need to stop looking for an excuse and a way to blame a "syndrome/disorder" for their child's behavior. Ruck up, be the parent and own your child's upbringing and behavior. My children's successes and failures are directly related to my parenting.

In SA TX last year a 16 year old girl was busted in high school for having drugs, illegal drugs. Student taken to the principals office. Mom called. Police called. Mom shows up. Pissed. Screams at her kid and slaps her. Mom is arrested, charged with assualt, taken to jail. Girl released to Dad's custody, Suspended 3 days. CPS called, Mom investigated. Don't know what final result was.

They're a product of the parents. Started with the excess and 'me' attitude of the 60's, passed to a new generation of latchkey kids who've grown up to become the inadequate parents of what you mentioned above. Stop trying to tie it into some 'overseeing' organization or political agenda. Groups like the ACLU are just enablers.

Not the one about fighting. I could easily see charges being filed and suspension for both.
