I understand completely why beaglebeagle did it the way that he did it. On the other hand I also understand why Sixx closed the thread.
As members of the "staff" we see a lot of feedback from the other staff members from the other cities regarding all of the "rules" and how they are enforced board-wide. I do know that other areas are much more strict regarding the 30 day rule than we are here in Austin. Ultimately, we are here to help and assist our members and to keep things on the track that the owners have laid out for us to follow. No matter what, be it a judgement or a hard and fast rule, there is always going to be someone with a difference of opinion, and that's what makes the world go round. I think that the owners here, respect that and utilize it as part of the "learning process" (albeit ongoing) that GG describes in his posts. In the end, however, the Mods, may not always have the "WHY" of certain of our rules, we just have the rule and that is what we follow when we make decisions.
I am certain to some, it seems that being a Mod is easy. I assure you that it is not. I can tell you it makes one see things very differently at times. Most of those times are the ones where we have the room to make judgements like this case. In Sixx's judgement, this thread was too old to continue and the board needed a new one. Maybe not the correct call in everyone's opinion, but at that moment it was the correct one from his point of view.
