I'm sure many of us have had close calls. It is a very small world out there. I have had a few clients show up at my job (not knowingly). I have had appointments with a neighbor and even requests from former classmates and co-workers.

Has this happened to any hobbyists or providers and how did you handle it?

In fact, I disclosed my occupation to a friend of mine who had been trying to get me in the sac for close to 10 years. Now when he contacts me (which is once in a blue moon), he asks if he can have the "friend discount" to which I sweetly respond, "friends don't get a discount, they get charged more!!"

It's just my way of telling him I don't mix established non-hobby friends with work.

Unfortunately, because of the above, I don't feel like I can socialize with him in public anymore for fear of being outed.

It happens alot to me...I have been outed in the swinger community in a couple difft states.....I have guys say "Hi Dallas" to me alot when I am partying on Bourbon........I even had a guy come up to me at a nudist camp in Texas and start asking me how biz was going!!{wtf???}

My children know,my brother in law knows,and I think my sisters might have an idea

I think sometimes it would be nice to not have to hide what I do"'....I wanna be proud of it! {I wanna go to my class reunion and say "huh,see what I became!!}

I guess I am "kinda out in the limelight" so I may be asking for it...lol!!

Sometimes I worry about my family and Civvie friends finding out even though I don't think it would come as a surprise to them. Except for my kids and my g-mom I really don't care who knows. If they really love me they will continue to love me and if not I guess I don't need them in my life anyway.

I've been thinking more and more about showing my face in my pic's. Should I? Does it make a difference on whether or not you can see her face before meeting her?

I have had it happen more than once. Most everyone who really knows me knows what I do and accepts it. I do have my face on my ads, so the guys do know that it's me before they get here. But for some reason they never tell me that till I see them out the peep hole of the door. I think they enjoy seeing me squirm a bit at first. But it has all worked out.

I have run into a few clients at my real job, but everyone has acted mature about it and business carried on as usual.

Seriously. What the *&% do you do or say if someone suspects or inquires about it? I blur my face, but is is enough? I think i can berecognized.

I would love to travel and be free. It just isn't an option. Take advantage of it and see every inch of our beautiful country that you can.

April, I agree with Annie. I'm not sure if the girls that show their faces make more money or not. I would imagine they do. I think when I stopped cutting my entire head off and just blurred my face, I did get more business. I think gentlemen do want to see some sort of realistic, feminine connection.

Guys, are you more likely to contact a lady who shows her face? What do you do when you run into a hobbyist at your kid's school or something?

I don't have any kids that I know of. I go by what is on the menu. UNLESS it's a dinner date, then I expect the photo of the person to be close.

So far I have only run into one client while making my groceries, we exchanged a small smile of acknowledgment then continued on our separate ways without skipping a beat. I was a little embarrased since I was deep into "having a busy day" mom mode with no make up and messy hair. NOT my finest moment! LOL

If I have been recognized by anyone else I didn't know it and they have never told me.

My suggestion is if you meet up with a client at your RL job, you treat him just like you would anyone else who comes there, he will more than likely follow your cues and do likewise.

If someone from your RL starts asking questions or confronts you about it, laugh at them and say something sarcastically like... "Me?! an escort?!... Yea right! I have a hard enough time just giving it away!" Then walk away shaking your head and laughing. The point is to make the whole idea of it seem preposterous.

You can also pretend to be deeply offended by the fact that they could ever even THINK that you would do such a thing. Get good and mad about it and if you can muster up the tears, cry! Remember, your honor has just been insulted, don't hold back! Give it to them good!

Gotta have the attitude of that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

I think some people are just not that bright. I have seen providers in public and the courteous person in me wants to say hello but the brain kicks in and I realize it could be an awkward situation and I let the moment pass. I constantly worry about it(running into a provider in public) and I am not even a provider. Hell I was in Europe last year and ran into people from Baton Rouge and New Olreans. It is a very small world.

I have a funny story on this topic...and it happenned to ME!

I started in the hobby in Sept 09. The first attempt was a backpage girl, smokin hot picture, $200. I showed up and she was about 4'9" and 180 lbs...So I ran.

After that shock I decided to try an agency. I saw an ad for a girl on BP, but it was an agency running the ad. The girl looked hot, but there were no face pics. I set up a two hour lunch and fun for the next day and completed screening by email.

The girl did not show up for lunch...and after waiting for an hour, I drove home with my head held low. I got all the way home (About 20 miles), and I got a text that she had just awaken and appologising profusely. She asked if I would get a room and she would met me in 1 hour and I said WTF.

I went and got a room and textted her the room # and waited anxiosly. The knock at the door came and I opened it up to find a familiar face. This girl worked at a restaurant around the corner from my house, and the restaurant was a customer of the business that I own. I was busted for sure...right???

We sat on the bed and talked about this akward situation, and we mutually agreed not to pursue the session (She was pretty hot...but). We also agreed not to out each other.

Skip forward to April 2010. I am in a business in my town with an employee...and this girl walks in with a toddler in tow. I almost shit a brick, especially when she approached me. When went to the side out of earshot of anyone else, and she thanked me for keeping quiet. She said that she no longer was in the biz...and that her boyfriend had left her. She reached in her purse and pulled out a pen and paper and jotted down her # and said that she felt that she could trust me, and that she could use the $$, so call her sometime. I asked her about Incall or outcall etc, and she said I could come to her place. She wrote the address and it turns out she lives 2 blocks away!!

I havent called her yet...who thinks I should?

I have seen a few of my clients out and about however I do not just see anybody since I have been an Indy. It is common respect and common sense to have a understanding to not approach and start up a conversation even if someone was to I tell most people that know me I am a Convention Entertainer and I help set up different Conventions that come to Nola after all Nola is the 3rd largest convention holder in the USA. So therefore if I am in any company outside work I can play off I know them from convention work.

I also had to learn the hard way that sometimes in the industry you tend to have jealous providers that come and go that like to use certain information about you against you. In other words be careful to who your friends are and do not give too much personal information. I would like to believe everyone has a good heart however that simply is not the case.

I also did not grow up here and I have no family here anymore, I couldn't image working in my home town.

I understand LAVixian, I am a loner as well... I hate hanging out in bars etc. I like keeping to myself for obvious reasons.
