Default Reducing large area forums

Today's posts in the NET forum is pointing out some difficulties. The NET seems to extend from close to Denison, Texarkana, Kauffman ( seems to roughly follow US 287 almost from Corsicana _ ok, not QUITE) allthe way over to the Louisiana/Arkansas border and down all teh way to the gulfCoast beyond Beaumont. There seems to be quite a few viewers from the Shreveport area and Lake Charles too. These guys are only about a half hour drive from some of the larger towns in the NET.

THAT area is HUGE. http://www.eccie.net/showthread.php?t=6611&page=2

matador suggested that, at the least, the provider ads could , maybe, be subdivided into smaller segments ( think from Denison to Texarkana, Then the central area - Tyler-Longview-Nacogdoches, and then the Beaumont area and to the south) My suggestions are approximate. Btu ladies that are visiting the NET, but are going ot Texarkana are not too useful to the fellas in Beaumont.

And Justin commented that the area which i call CenTex ( Waco to Bryan/CollegeStation) does not really fit in the DFW area, nor the Austin or Houston areas either.

Would some adjustments in these froums be possible? I am sure that Geography may nto be the strongest point for some of the ladies. I know I am familiar only because I have traveled the regions inthe past 20 years while we lived in the ArkLaTex.

Areas this large do cause some frustration with hobbyists in their search and providers as they try ot place effective ads and schedule their trips.

Your consideration willbe appreciated. I am trying to encourage participation form both hobbyists and providers.

I have posted a map on the thread that lemontrees has linked on her post. I have a second map to post here with a little more transparency so that the staff can see the "size" issues that we have here. We are huge ( no pun intended ).

I think having sub-forums within the main North and East Texas forum should be taken into consideration. It doesn't guarantee that the forum participation here will take off but it could be encouraging for more folks to participate. For the record, I always travel to Dallas when playing, so this suggestion is mainly for the many guys who stay in the area.

This is not off topic, but rather about another area. Tulsa vs OKC these two cities are approx 1 hr 45 to 2 hrs apart mostly depending on the turnpike and traffic flow along with time of day.

It would be very nice to have sub forums for advertising ONLY! No need to separate genral discussions or anything else, just ads.

I ran into a situation just yesterday where I really needed to go to OKC for personal biz today, but couldnt post a last minute ad because I had already posted one for here in Tulsa. So because of not wanting to miss out on any sessions here, I delayed my trip over until tomorrow. As fate would have it, my phone did ring and I did have work here at home.

I have seen it many times where traveling including myself have been in a town and nothing comes in so what do we do? We just sit it out where if we had other sub forums we could make quick changes to our tour schedule. I also ran into the same issue when I toured East TX last fall.

As I'm based in the NET area, I run into trouble with this often. Some rare weeks I've been to five cities in this area without being able to place another ad, as I had already placed one, say for Tyler or Longview...but then made a trip down through Beaumont to get to Baton Rouge. Even though there does not seem to be a large amount of activity in this area...it makes it difficult to 'service' it properly in it's current size. Perhaps if it were easier for a gentleman to see his city/area without having to weed through other cities that are not even close, there would be more posts in these areas. Hopefully, Staff will see the need to subdivide...we would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!!!

Kind of hard to fathom Sherman and Beaumont being in the same area and having ad restrictions placed. As a remedy I suggest lifting the ad restrictions on areas that aren't that busy. I understand that the idea is to keep the ad section from turning into a CL or BP type forum where providers post multiple ads to bump others off the front page. But in sections where that isn't a problem I see nothing wrong with a lady posting an ad for Sherman one day and then another ad for Beaumont the next day even if they technically are in the same area.

At least a northeast and a southeast. Maybe even a middleeast.

Agreed!!! As a hobbyist who occasionally makes it to the Beaumont area, I would prefer to see a "coastal" section in SETX. I'm not looking for someone in Texarkana unless they happen to be touring on the coast.

For whatever it's worth, there are similar issues with the Pennsylvania forum. The majority of the hobbyists who frequent that forum right now are Pittsburgh-based, and there's already been some confusion among them upon seeing Philadelphia area reviews. Driving time between Pittsburgh and Philadelphia is somewhere around six hours...

If it were possible to have separate sections at least for Western PA and Eastern PA, that would help. (Central PA is kind of it's own thing too, but there was little traffic regarding that area even on ASPD, so not sure a separate Central PA section would get much use...)

How about Zip Codes? Would that even be close to possible?

I mean, when you do a search for different businesses, you put YOUR Zip Code in and then it gives you an idea of what is near you like at 5 miles, 10 miles, 20 miles, etc.

Just what popped into my head...
