Perhaps not but at least you don't look unhappy or downright sad. I don't think it's an issue of smiling as much as an issue of appearing to do something you're not happy about doing.

One can be very inviting without a smile but that is much different than appearing forced and unnatural as if there is a pimp with belt in his hand watching from the sidelines.
