Sofia,
Do you find it interesting at all that of the 15 posts so far on this thread, only 1 has been by a woman who attempted to answer the question. Curious, huh? Wonder why.
Ladies, surely you've seen some men who thought were more gentlemanly than others. What made them so?
All the best,
JDN

Beg to differ pretty lady - the gentleman's reward is in his action, not the reaction. Although if gravy follows, it is respectfully lapped up.

My G-ma always said a true gentlemanwas impossible to find. I don't believe that. Instead, I will say that a.characteristic trait of a true gentleman is never making a girl, lady, woman cry.

Manners (in general) are how we show we have respect for one another (you guys all skip class that day?). I'll always show a provider respect and expect have it returned in kind...This hobby is hard to squeeze into one's life (from both perspectives) so manners, a little graciousness & humor are the lube in this system...
Ladies (at least those that recall me), being rather new to all this, please don't hesitate to critique my deportment and turn it in a 'teaching moment' for all of us.

A gentleman is one who thinks before speaking - who listens with intensity. He gracefully shares what blessings he has - his word is sacred and can be counted on. He does not boast - he does not need to. His wealth is in his heart - as is his warmth. He is gentle - yet strong. His wisdom is in his words.... And, you know you are safe when you are near him.

The same traits that make a lady.
Being aware of the comfort level of your guests, companions, and neighbors, and trying to keep it high.
Making a person feel at ease with him/herself when around you.
Never making yourself look better an another's expense.
Deflecting attention from another person's social faux pas.
Being steadfast in your convictions, and standing up for what you believe in.
Being a good, honest person.
Showing that you believe everyone is equal and you don't consider yourself superior to anyone else.
Showing the same respect and empathy for a prisoner that you would a CEO.
Having pride in yourself without boasting or bragging.
Doing nice things for ladies is very sweet, but a true gentleman does them because he wants his companions to feel at ease in his company.
