And all this time I thought it was because you were the new mod on the block and had to deal with the shitty threads...lol
Seriously though it does seem that some mods steer clear of posting in these drama filled threads.

Rules? Actually they are called forum guidelines. Maybe we should look at a few:
#1 - Avoid cases of unprovoked rudeness to others. No place for it here. Yes, with the dynamic nature of the threads and topics, tempers will flare and things will become heated from time to time. You may often encounter individuals who become passionate or emotional when expressing one's opinion or point of view. That's all understood and perfectly acceptable within reason…….but, start slamming or bashing another member and be met with consequences.
#3 - Disrespect to others, IN GENERAL, will be considered an item of low tolerance, especially when posting in our coed forums. Follow the Golden Rule and treat others as you wish to be treated yourself. This applies to fellow members as well as staff. We do not require that you have respect for us, but we do require that you treat us respectfully in the public forums. If you feel the need to vent, gripe, or blow off some steam regarding a staff member's action or decision, we ask that you keep it private. Email, RTM, or the PM system would be the appropriate avenue to take in such cases. In cases where you would like to request additional clarity about a staff decision, you are free to pursue an answer in either a public forum or private means of communication. If handled publicly, post your inquiry in a respectful manner.
#4 - Blatant insults or hostility toward another member will be met with staff intervention. This applies to using our coed forums for name calling, personal attacks, or vulgar slang terms to describe fellow members. If you have legitimate concerns about another member here, share them tactfully in the appropriate private forums or with staff.
Do some of these hate/drama threads violate one or more of these guidelines? It would seem as long as you aren't rude of disrespectful to a specific individual by calling out him or her by handle you can be as rude as you want. Rude or disrespectful posts or threads directed to a group or type of individuals seems to be allowed.
Both guidelines #1 and #3 above use the word others. That word can mean "one" as in "individual" but it can also mean more than one as in a "group".
So on the surface it looks like the guildeines are written quite well. Maybe they just aren't being interpreted or enforced the way they should be.

Since that thread is in play, NAN's pretty ass asked a very succint and valuable question in it:

That was about a year ago, when we rarely even needed the RTM. Those days are over.
I love the cloak of 'you don't know who's getting points. It's private.'
I don't think anyone was asking for points to be issued, or even if points had been issued, but for the elephant in the room to be addressed.

Good advice also for those who take offense so readily (and loudly).

I'm still waiting on the answer about what you're proposing to do about us. Or is this just another in your list of "oh woe is our board society, I long for days gone past when men were gentlemen and respected all women" whiny threads? What is it you want? Really.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
FYI, ivan's thread title lists spinners too. Think skinny petite women take offense to that?
Y'all are being much too sensitive.
And for the record we slam all hookers for their threAD's be they fat, or ugly, skinny, hot and just plain stupid.
Why? As Wakeup has said "because we can".

For some one who has such a hate for large people... I would hate to see you on the streets looking on at those who live a happy life, while you secretly wonder why yours sucks so much..

How often do you see an attractive woman in a relationship with a fat guy? How often do you see a fit, handsome guy in a relationship with a fat chick?
Almost never. Most humans find fat people unattractive. It's a scientific fact.
Now you take this same herd of fat chicks and give them a computer and an internet connection, next thing you know they're posting 500 times a day and starting 10 threads a day about how great it is to be fat. How fat chicks do it better. Over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. It becomes offensive and nauseating.
Alot of people are disgusted and offended by this behavior but they don't want to say anything out of fear of being labeled a "hater" or "asshole". But it gets to the point where someone who has balls actually says something and tells it like it is.
Bottom line, the truth hurts. You made the decision to whore yourself out on the internet for the world to see. You know damn well how you look and so do the rest of the herd.
You can whine, and cry to the mods and dearjohn, and blowpop. You can hit the rtm button all day long and try to get people pointed but no matter what there will always be someone out there who's going to TELL YOU THE TRUTH.

So wait... He shouldn't use the word "whale", but you can use the word "asshole". Hey pot. Meet kettle.
The answer is in your own question. You're the "nice" people. You're the "civil" people. You're "better" than the rest of us. Turn the other cheek and let the less tactful in the world be less tactful. Ignore their obvious jibes and taunts. Start your own thread patting yourself on the back for being so swell.
Newsflash, "nice", "civil" people don't get into arguments on the internet, even if they're baited into one. So if you find yourself arguing with an (to use your own words) asshole, guess what that makes you? An asshole.

You guys really should just say fuck 'em, for they do not make up a majority. Only a majority of those talking shit. Yes, it's annoying as hell, but most pests are.
I don't think this method will affect any change, because change comes through action rather than a bunch of squawking. Rather it can be used as a tool. Collect those posts and those threads that you feel are unduly offensive and blatantly against the rules, why, and what if anything you would like to see done. Email Chica Chaser (he's the admin here, great guy) and see if there's something he could do. If you think he's being unfair, unresponsive, or you're not satisfied, email the owners with your concerns.
If you don't think it's important enough to do this, or you are not willing to, then it couldn't be that important.

I reject that. WU and other posters like him serve a function on this board, whether you accept it, realize it or you don't. There is a tendency among hobbyists to lie. Shocker, I know. Who'd've thought? A john telling tall tales... But this tendency creates an atmosphere of disbelief for many of the more seasoned. Every review, every comment is viewed through the prism of "Yeah, right...", and its because many of the reviews and comments are so sweet, so gushing, so over-the-top that they defy reason. But they're nice. Everyone agrees, its nice that he has so many nice things to say about the provider. She thinks its nice for her business to have nice recommendations. But then a different hobbyist shows up and discovers the exaggeration. It's not nice for him to feel duped by "respected" board members.
In their own way, WU and those like him are fostering an atmosphere where hobbyists are compelled to tell the truth, to use language that may not be pleasant to everyone -- but gets the fucking point across and leaves no room for doubt. Hobbyists aren't left to analyze and decode ambiguous terminology. No, it's not nice, but it does serve a purpose. Not everyone agrees with it, but then again, not everyone agrees with the approach BP champions where we all just say sweet, pleasant things and nobody ever gets their jimmies rustled.
Bottom-line: if you want happy, go-lucky, sunshine and lollipops, you're in the wrong place. This is a hookers n' johns board. Grow up.

Gallant? I'm far from it. But I'm not some sheepish follower who goes along with bad behavior just because others say it's OK.

One is a criticism of appearance. The other is a criticism of behavior. If you don't see the difference, I'll try typing more slowly.

In other words, it's fine for you and your buddies to criticize providers you target, but when someone criticizes the leader of the he-man pack, it's not OK? I think you said something about pots and kettles before. You might want to refer back to it.

People get into heated discussions on the internet for a variety of reasons. Don't confuse civil with apathetic.

So Wakeup is some sort of Hobby Standards Committee? Encouraging everyone to be honest? Please tell me you aren't naive enough to seriously believe this.
You might notice, for example, that Wakeup doesn't write reviews. If he gave a crap about the honest sharing of hobby information, he might actually, you know, honestly share information. What he does is take potshots at those who don't meet his standards for feminine beauty.
What I've observed about Wakeup is that he's got some sort of deep-seated problem with those who are overweight. (If I had to fathom a guess, I'd say he was a fat kid who was teased about it mercilessly. No one should have to go through this.) His behavior here borders on obsession with the issue. He's generally a bright guy, and he knows how to push the buttons of those who tend to follow (I'd guess he's had some sort of leadership training), so he's gathered a handful of noisy followers who cheer him on and add to the public displays of this obsession.
If you doubt what I'm saying, go look at what he posts. He's constantly talking about the appearance of providers. Not the service level, not their ability to take care of business, but whether or not they accurately portray their appearance.
And as anyone who's hobbied knows, a session can be ruined by many other factors beyond the appearance of the provider.
So why doesn't this altruistic, helpful bro write reviews, or harp on providers who he finds hot, but who provide lousy service?
Something to think about.
