Spurs summer

Is anyone impressed/unimpressed with the Spurs dealings so far? It seemed like almost every other team was making headline moves except us.

I think they think with best record in the league the past two years, if it ain't broke, don't fix it so they are gonna ride the same roster again.

Sure they got DeColo but I can almost guarantee Pop won't play youngsters in the playoffs again next year. I also noticed most of the signings were two to three years - just as Duncan's retirement party looms. How do you spell R-E-B-U-I-L-D ?

I remember when I used to be a Dallas Cowboys fan, Jimmy Johnson knew he needed "something" to get them to Super Bowl land so he went out and got Charles Haley. I think the Spurs need to add "that guy" - whoever it is.

Maybe they will make a trade/acquisition during the season. I'm glad Duncan is excited and ready to come back but lets face it: between 2003 and 2007, this team ruled the NBA. Three rings in 5 years. It was an awesome time to have season tickets.

The Spurs seem to ALWAYS be in the mix of things. They never have a lottery pick, nor are they ever involved in a blockbuster trade. Yet, they are always in the conversation when it comes to discussing the teams that could win the Western Conference championship.

What's their secret?

The Spurs have a mad scientist in head coach Gregg Popovitch who always seems to find the right ingredients for his formula to work. Having a supporting cast including RC Buford makes it a really dynamic duo to come up with new lineups.

So what exactlydo I see as their formula that keeps the Spurs competitive every year?

They have an equal portion of old ingredients and new ingredients needed and simply continues to swirl them around until the playoffs come around and they seem to just ripe each year. Their formula involves people that can play tough defense, are athletic on the perimeter and fight tooth and nail for loose balls and rebounds.

Always makes for exciting basketball and hard core season ticket holders!!
