True, but not........Atheist are scum because they try to deceive us that their beliefs are something other than "beliefs", and superior...........they also wrongly think that people of faith are anti-science...in this sense atheists are not "on par" with the rest, they are sub-par.

Atheists are annoying, but not scum. They are free to not believe in a judgmental god of love who promises to send them to hell for eternity unless they do exactly as they are told.

Of course atheists are free to believe what they want. However, there is an uppidty attitutde of superiority that some atheists carry....these are the scum for thinking they are better than us mortals who have faith in things unseen....it isn't their atheism that makes them so, it is the attitude.

Any person who thinks their religion, or lack thereof, is better than anyone else's is scum, based on your definition. I'd call them assholes, but scum works.
Ever gotten into a conversation with some nut on the street demanding an answer to "If you were to die tonight . . "? Talk about delusional superiority.

Well said. We all are personally responsible for our apathy.
Most choose entertainment over knowledge .
Good observation cog.

Exactly . I believe that there is no god. A non belief- belief.
We agree athiesm is not a religion.
Definition for religion: a specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects.
The only sect that agrees with athiesm are atheist.
The only common practice I can think of is NOT believing
In god.
Atheist who militantly advocate that their belief system is superior to and more preferential than that of people who have different beliefs and who further advocate that all others must change and believe as they do, puts them on par with the people they are criticizing.

Bill mahr is militant and actively criticizes religious groups. I don't agree with his
methodology. I do respect his right to believe how he chooses and speak his mind. I wouldn't demean someone for their beliefs.
Until we are dead, no one can say who is right or wrong.
We can only believe what we choose.
If believing in god and Jesus. Allah or whatever makes your life more satisfying
and makes you a better human .. That is wonderful
If you practice hypocrisy by preaching the virtues and not practicing..
that would qualify someone as scummy as a republican mouth at a Reagan/Rove
Bukakke party .
Claiming to be a god loving/ fearing Christian while posting on a hooker board with reviews to their name.... Implies infidelity or premarital relations...
Isn't that a sin? Isn't that hypocritical ?
Isn't that close to home?

It is called free will. I have a choice to believe or not believe.
the beauty is that if I believe and am wrong its no big deal.
What amuses me about atheists is how pissed they get about something they have no belief in.

You sound mighty preachy, UB9IB6.

Again with the preachiness, UB9IB6: you obviously cannot help yourself. One thing more abhorred than a preachy Christian is a preachy atheist that claims to stand for nothing as he espouses his mantra -- your mantra exemplifies "hypocrisy".

But when atheists elevate themselves to be judgmental gods, they become scum.

If I were preaching I would
Have called for you to stop the hobby.
If I were preaching I would say
You'll burn in your hell. I did not and will not do either.
Preaching is not making an observation and stating an opinion, as I did.
I really don't feel like I'm superior to any of you. I'm sure you've all done well in your
Professional and personal lives. Continued good fortune for all of you is what I wish.

You are preaching. You are the one who brought religion into this thread supposing your atheistic beliefs to be superior to those of others: Romney's in particular . . . and you haven't established that Romney is a member of this SHMB.

Romney..... at least he's not a commie.
Like I've told Shyster (and he did let me know I sounded like a perfect blind tea partier) If Romney ground up kittens for fuel, ate aborted babies, or let whitney snort the line that killed her off his stomach, I'd STILL vote for him ONLY because he isn't Obama or a fukin commie. I don't like Romney either, but I HATE obama. Oh kayla hate is a strong word.... you're right it is... I despisingly loath obama. See, despisingly isn't even a word, it's a step up.
One thing is for absolute certain, I love the ability to say anything I want, whenever I want. If he wins in November, I will no longer feel safe doing just that.
Shyster said he made a donation to Obama in my name and honest to God my first thought was... Oh thank you!!!!! Me and mine will be off the round up list and I didn't even have to compromise my morals to do it.
Hey I just got back from a week vacation on the coast in the most beautiful beach house I've ever seen. I didn't log in even one time to this board. And NO, I won't go away forever, even though I'd really like too... anything to piss off a liberal. You guys are so easy. I bet I should have been ordered to take a family that couldn't afford it with me so I could redistribute my wealth. Oh wait... I'll be a son of a gun, I DID JUST THAT YOU ASSHOLES. I can decide how to spend my money better than the government. Later folks.

PS.... Secondhand Lions is my most favorite movie of all time. It's guys like those that will make all the difference no matter who wins an election.
I believe good always wins over evil... not because it's true, but because it's worth believing in.

I sincerely don't feel like I am preaching. I wouldnt dare ask anyone to NOT believe . Belief can be a good thing. If going by your gods word makes it possible to live a good and happy life.. That is a wonderful thing. If you feel like you need something bigger than yourself to lean on in troubled times..and it helps, GREAT! I would hate for someone to give up something that brings hope and purpose into their life.
I just share a different set of beliefs. And I shouldn't be expected to
Compromise my morals and principles either. Please do not mistake that
assertion to mean that I feel superior or less than others.
Please forgive my lack of knowing what "SHMB" is an acronym for. Please explain. Thanks.
Back to the preaching thing....
I don't think I was doing anything other than making an observation or two and adding an opinion.
If that is preaching.... I guess we are all guilty of that.
Have a good day ladies and gents.
