Obama To Cut Defense Budget - By Increasing Fees On Soldiers
You got it. Our armed forces now routinely qualify for food stamps, and Obama wants to reduce the Defense department budget by increasing their cost for healthcare.
Seriously.
And you support this guy? Unbelievable.

As one who is currently covered under that health care program I will say the current premium I pay is exceedingly small. It should be raised. Having said that I can't tell from the article if it is a reasonable amount he is looking to raise it or not. The last couple years of the Bush-2 era they tried to raise it an absurd amount.
In these times I don't think a reasonable increase is wrong. Costs do increase for everything, and this is something that hasn't gone up since it was first put in place years ago.

Some of us would reduce defense expenditures by closing some foreign bases, or eliminating weapons programs that no one wanted except the congressman in whose district they were built, or something like that. But if raising the fees on soldiers who are already struggling to make ends meet works for you, fine.

Reminds me of when Clinton charged a tax on the things that soldiers buy at the PX or military exchanges. Not luxuries but uniform items to offset the cost of the deployment to Bosnia. Like or not Clinton also started veterans paying a copay for our meds.
I have sent in my ideas for the federal government, eliminate federal taxes for active duty soldiers. That is a pay increase right there and it would be right and fair.

Foreign bases are a different topic. Fixing one wrong does not mean something else is not also wrong.
Yes, I think the rates on TRICARE are artificially low.

Well, you support the guy who would have removed the air conditioning from the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.

You didn't listen to the video, did you? Never mind. Even if that was the case, I would oppose the policy, like I oppose this one. I'm not like you, I don't have to pretend that my candidate is perfect, and defend everything he does.
Besides, I support Gary Johnson.

Doofie, how stupid are you? If Ron Paul were President, he'd bring the AC units home, ON THE SAME PLANES AS THE TROOPS! We wouldn't have soldiers fighting a stupid war against a phony enemy, who used to be our ally when it was convenient.
Obama wants to reduce defense costs on the backs of the soldiers he sent there to do this dirty job.
You Obamatons are getting stupider and more bizarre by the day.

Learn the subject matter before posting like an emotional teenager!
You do understand that Gates was the one pushing this back a couple of years ago?
Of course people like JD do not want to raise their payment on insurance. They want people like me to pay for their insurance for life!
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/11/29/us...care.html?_r=1
WASHINGTON — Francis Brady enjoys a six-figure salary and generous benefits at the consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton, but as a retired Marine lieutenant colonel he and his family remain on the military’s bountiful lifetime health insurance, Tricare, with fees of only $460 a year. He calls the benefit “phenomenal.”
It is so cheap compared to what Booz Allen has,” Colonel Brady said in a recent interview, acknowledging that premiums called for by private employers can run many times greater.
Of nearly 4.5 million military retirees and their families, about three-quarters are estimated to have access to health insurance through a civilian employer or group. But more than two million of them stay on Tricare. As the costs of private health care continue to climb, their numbers are only expected to grow.
Now, as part of a broad offensive to cut Pentagon spending, that group is once again in the sights of Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates, who is seriously considering whether to ask for Tricare fee increases in next year’s budget — and perhaps start one of the last fights of his public career.

What does this have to do with the topic? Nothing. That is why it is a strawman.

Unfortunately for you, that's not what he said.
So your position is clear, you're ok with forcing the troops to deal with 100+ degree temps without any air conditioning.
