Exclamation Clever Ideas

You don't get many clever ideas from the OP and when you do, they're accidental and only meant to be some sort of dopey humor.

However, there is really something to be said for that notion combined with the first response.

I think our method of voting is really antiquated and the time is long past to update the system.

Voting is something of a hassle as it means taking time off work and standing often in long lines.

Then if the weather is bad, many people just won't bother.

I have been pondering on a more modern system whereby people could vote from their own computers.

Think about it. We already can bank online and buy and sell stocks from our own computers. Now, if we could also vote then it would certainly increase voter turn-out and best of all . . .

. . . It would prevent Florida from dicking around with their hanging chads!

HAHA, unless you want the hacker society "Anonymous" picking our leaders, that is not an option. They are unstoppable once they commit to hacking something.

Do you think Anonymous could do any worse than we already have? I doubt it.

I think we would be better off being governed by the average American, than the clowns we have in Congress. It's not that they're stupid; it's more a matter of being addicted to power. They will do anything to get reelected, even if its not the best thing for the country. We need terms limits. It should be one six year term and you're gone.

The american electorate for years now has been demanding more and more entitlements and services from the fed yet they don't want to increase taxes to do it. And we have had a bunch of politicians who've told us we can have that. And we've bought it.

Our Congressmen and women are out of touch with reality and the wants, needs, and concerns of their constituents. Every one of them should be required to spend one week every two months going door-to-door in their district, talking to the people. Affluent neighborhoods, middle-class, lower income. At the end of the week they should be required to post on their website a summary of which neighborhoods they visited, and what major concerns were expressed.

And periodically, they should be required to post on their website a summary of what actions they have taken, and how they have voted, in furtherance of the wishes of their constituency. The only shoe leather most of them burn up any more is when they walk around to various lobbyist's offices asking for handouts, and when they attend social functions, eat free food, and drink free alcohol.
