Default what do you use to edit a photo

i have some photos i need to edit

mostly just cropping them down to where not everything in the pic is showing

i have windows xp

paint sucks for this

any suggestions on free software that I can download?

or does xp come with anything for this?

Most easy cropping CAN be done with paint.. to tell you the truth, I have PSCS5 PSElements and a few other programs.. and for simple re-sizing and cropping... I use paint.

For Windows XP, download Gimp. It is free and is a lot like PhotoShop. It was developed for Linux, but there is a Windows version that works very well.

Try this link: http://www.gimp.org/downloads/ and use the Windows Installer.

Depending on the photo content, some of the free storage sites (photobucket at least) I think has an editing/cropping feature.
