Gosh, i'm surprised the guy who TAUGHT Econ 101 didn't know enough to point that out.

It's obvious that TTH doesn't give a damn about the individuals involved, as long as the calculations turn out right. So some lose their job, and prices go up, or businesses close. As long as it LOOKS like we care, that's all that matters.

Typical liberal bullshit. He still pays his employees the lowest amount he can. Hypocrite, too.

As we have come to expect, you have missed the point entirely, Doofie, and only agree with TTH because you can't understand him and you think he sounds smart.

The price level WILL go up. That is a fact. Some commodities more than others, and a few will stay the same, but the general price level will increase.

More people will be out of work. That is also a fact.

TTH doesn't care, because it looks good and compassionate to propose an increase in the minimum wage, when it is not. But it LOOKS good. That's all liberals care about. How things LOOK. If he was as compassionate as he says he is, he would raise the wages of his own workers, but he won't unless the government demands it.

He's a phony and a hypocrite, much like you.

It's fascinating watching you pick and choose who you decide to care about.

Yeah, nevermind the fact that the total compensation he pays his employees seems to already be well above minimum wage, and nevermind the fact that he's advocating a policy that would increase it to even higher levels....

Inconvenient facts just don't register with you, do they?

Well, along those lines, i understand everything you ever talk about. Not for nothing, i guess.

Yeah, i suppose the real compassionate thing to do would be to eliminate the minimum wage, and allow businesses to pay $2/hr if they wanted.

Salaries would not be $2.00 an hour if there was no minimum wage. Wages are based on the value a person adds to the business. If they generate a higher profit and their skill demands it they will get a higher wage. Setting an arbitrary base wage limit only hurts the low skilled worker by reducing the number of jobs available. Those jobs are often the entry point they need to acquire skills and experience that enables them to get a higher wage.

There is also a lot of BS about how the business owners should pay more. Not all business owners make lots of money. Raising the minimum wage will cause some businesses to close simply because there would be no profit left. You can argue that the business should close then but when do you get the right to dictate that to someone else. There are a lot of small business owners that make just enough to get by but are happy with the independence they have. Why should someone else's misguided belief be allowed to destroy what they have.

Doofie refuses to understand. It's sad, really. But he is a waste of time.

A couple of decades ago I found myself in a position of having to reduce overhead by one paycheck among six guys. I was on salary so was in no danger but I didn't want to have to let anyone go. I came up with two plans that staggered hours as they were reduced the minimum amount. The result was that I either laid someone off or I reduced everyone's hours slightly. I gave my people the plan and then gave them an hour to think about it. They came back and said they were willing to accept fewer hours so everyone kept their job.

This real life scenario runs counter to what Doove and the rest believe. Everyone was willing to sacrifice instead of fuck you, I got my paycheck. We got through the lean times (seasonal problem) and everyone got back to regular pay checks in a few months. Americanism vs unionism
