Default Haggling/Negotiating Prices

I am the first person to tell you that I have no problem negotiating on the price of consumer products..... especially in this economic time.....

But, I have NEVER EVER asked a lady to take less than what she has asked for/advertised.

IMO, that is a line that should NEVER be crossed and there is NO EXCUSE for doing so.

If you do not like the lady's price or menu, then move along. A lady gets to set her menu, gets to set her price, gets to see who she wants and when she wants. ANYTHING ELSE IS COERCION or EXTORTION and IMO is UNACCEPTABLE.

I am interested in hearing from the ladies and the gents..... because apparantly some of my "brothers" think this is ok and perfectly acceptable. (LOL, I can tell you this... she will NEVER see you......and you know who I am talking about....)

Your thoughts?

Just sayin

Default Asking for lower rates

I will admit latley a few men even from eccie have asked for lower rates. I personally do get offended but it happens I always try to be polite. I always stick to my rates and just wait for the guy who does not mine paying my donation without haggling me.
Not all the guys are bad there a few sweets ones.

Guys should not haggle providers over their donation levels. Personally, I think it is ok to inquire whether a provider offers various donations for a variety of session time frames, certain times of the day or certain days of the week, etc. Sometimes providers do not promote all that, but are receptive if approached as an inquiry rather than a negotiation.
A guy can then make an informed decision once he know his options, if any. I agree, best to move on and not haggle!

just my $.03 hobby experience since 1998

"ANYTHING ELSE IS COERCION or EXTORTION and IMO is UNACCEPTABLE."

This is overstated. It's tempting to speculate it is stated so perhaps for the purpose of gaining knighthood.

Coercion and extortion involve the use of threats. Even so called insults are a question of context and tone.

I see nothing wrong with politely asking, once and without any menacing undertone, whether rates are flexible. It is actually helpful to the provider to get feedback as to price and demand. Maybe there is a time of day that is hard to fill. Maybe it's the end of the month and work has been light. Who knows. But making out like politely asking is some kind of vicious attack is at best an overreaction.

My ECCIE Reviews
Default

for once we agree, who is to tell a woman what her time is worth? I mean it is not like your going to a flea market or garage sale! We are professionals and not one person would walk into a Dr. office and ask for a 30 minute special! There are alot of people out there that would fit into any kind of budget that a client has to spend......... but never bargin it takes away self worth sometimes.

I have had guys call and say since I was older I should lower my price, and I say why would I lower the price on experience and knowledge? At 51 my body is better than at 35, my face is better than at 25 and my skills are not matched......... just my 2 cents

There are a lot of people laughing at that one.

Here is a scenario.... guy tells lady he wants an appointment.... she agrees and reminds him of her price (as showcase does not have it now).... guys says OK, but you have to lower your price to xyz or I won't take it....

No coercion you say? Well the guy, when pressed further says... I am well established on this board, and I can hurt you with a bad review....

Is that coercion or is that extortion?

Coercion is the use of force or power to obtain compliance.

Extortion is the practice of obtaining something through threats or force.

Both seem implied at the moment a gent asks for an appointment and when the lady says yes, he says the deal is only good if she gives him a lesser rate, even though he is NOT grandfathered, NOT been previously seen the lady and has been around the block on the board a while.....

Agree or not, like it or not.... we are NOT all created equal on this board. In general, the guys have more power here, as we have more places to keep secrets than the ladies and our written words can cost them business (and that equals income).

Just my opinion and I don't expect all to agree with me. Just getting curious as to see who thinks what.

Any more thoughts on this? I welcome them......

Just sayin

There are as many variables here as there are hobby guys and providers...yes there is grandfathering, there can be special deals to help a provider get started who needs some reviews, so she can then raise her donation levels...I used to see a provider in DFW who gave me and her regulars a free visit on our birthdays....not all providers post all they do and what is possible re donations, amounts of time, specials, etc. A few non threatening questions should not be considered haggling or negotiating...one gal I used to know in DFW tried to raise money up front for future visits at a discount. I have never been in to advancing money or providing loans for providers....just saying there is a lot going on out there in the market place for services. But again, once donation quoted by a provider, you are not a gentlemen to try and negotiate that particular donation and time associated with it.

I could not agree more! All other things aside, ONCE the lady quotes her price... it is inexcusable and ungentlemanly to attempt to negotiate.

It was often surprising to find out who the non-gentlemen are who make this attempt. Many of them find themselves on a "do not see" list as a result of this sort of tactic alone.

We all talk in our small community and word does get out.........

Respectfully,

That would be coercion, but that's not what you limited your original comment to.

What if a guy sees a posted ad and drops the gal an email politely expressing an interest and asking whether she has any special rates on the calendar? That's hardly extortion requiring AN ADMONITION IN ALL CAPS!

(not that it should matter but personally I just take quoted prices at face value. But turning this into some kind of moral imperative or measure of gallantry is just a thin veneer of faux virtue)

AHAH, but It DOES matter. YOU take the quoted prices at fair value. Personally, you do not haggle or attempt to negotiate. That puts you, personally, into one class of gents. (IMO, the good class) And the ladies ARE taking notes.

Your false virtue comment comes across as judgement. I will take that, as I put myself out there for it. I take no offense. Nothing false about anything I have said in this thread. (I do, at times, poke fun and use sarcasm - so I can see where my prior posts may color my comments in this one).

Nothing false about my outrage that a fellow hobbyist pissed off a very nice lady by being an a$$ to her.

Nothing false about my sincere desire to find out what the ladies and gents here truly think. To have an open and sincere dialogue.

Every member has a reputation here.

I appreciate the comments all have made.

Here is a real world situation with names and locations changed.

A lady friend of mine (Let us call her Suzy) gets a PM from a gent she has never seen (Let us call him Richard - or just Dick), asking her to leave her incall, travel out of town to come and see him. Suzy lives and works between an hour and two hours away from Dick.

(Let us say the fuel cost is going to be $25-30, the travel time 3-4 hours, the outcall expense is higher there)

Lady friend says she will make a point of doing so and tells him her rate (it is only $25 higher than her very reasonable incall rate).

He says he will book with her, but only if she lowers her rate by $25.

Given that scenario...... What is y'all's point of view about DICK and this real scenario?

Ladies? Gents? Bueller?

Just sayin........
