Here it is, then State Senate candidate Barack Obama, speaking to the Democratic Socialists of America. I report. You decide.

Hello democrats..... Does your silence mean you do agree with Obama meeting with socialist and are afraid to post or that you agree with the right. It was a fucked up thing to do, and can't bring yourself to say, "ah shit I agree with a righty."
Might I recommend black label incense.

Wow, you are bitchier than normal. 5:16 - 4:35 = 41 minutes you waited! What kept you so long?
Let me ask you a very simple few of questions:
1. When did freedom of speech and freedom of assembly stop applying to people you disagree with?
2. When did it become illegal to be a socialist?
3. When did socialists lose their right to be citizens?
4. I seem to recall a biblical passage saying Jesus dined with tax collectors and sinners. Are you calling Jesus' choice "fucked up" as well?
PS: I am not a socialist and do not agree with most their ideas, but I am one of those odd fellows who does believe in the constitution and the freedoms that too may right wingers seem to have issues with.

What, Kayla? No response to this? So you agree with everything Old-T said?

Obama is a Marxist/socialist and has been his entire adult life. Obama was affiliated with, and possibly a member of, a socialist/Marxist group in Chicago called The New Party in the nineties when he was running for state office. The New Party was a communist front group. Obama sought, and received, their endorsement for his state senate candidacy in 1996.
From Human Events:
Nonetheless, Obama still coveted the New Party endorsement. The New Party required candidates who received the endorsement sign a pledge of support for the party. Obama did not need to support a party that was, in effect, a front group for communists; yet he still chose to. The July issue of the New Ground noted that 15% of the New Party consisted of Democratic Socialists of America members and a good number of Committee of Correspondence members.
Barack Obama, not needing to, chose to affiliate himself with this band of quasi-communists. As the nation moves closer to the election, it is clear that Obama chose to affiliate with assorted anti-American radicals. Machiavelli once noted that we can know a leader by the people he surrounds himself with. What does that say about Barack Obama, who chose to surround himself with people committed to overthrowing the United States and capitalism?

So? Assume for a moment that your assumption of "socialist by association" is true (which I am not agreeing with, but assume...)
When has it become a crime to be a socialist?
When has it become a crime to be a communist--assuming you do not support the violent overthrow of the US or commit treasonous acts?
And by your quote, 85% were not DSA members.
Go back and read the questions I posed to Kayla.

I'll try to make this as simple as possible. It's not a good thing to have a socialist/Marxist for president. In fact, it's a very bad thing.
You make the silliest strawman arguments I've ever seen. You want to make the issue whether or not it's legal to be a socialist or a communist. Obviously, that's not the issue. Why not try refuting my argument that Obama is a socialist? I've presented evidence that Obama was a member of a socialist organization. Can you refute it? Why would a person join a socialist organization, if he wasn't a socialist?
Why not just admit the truth, that Obama is a socialist, and that you're ok with it, instead of making these weak attempts to defend him.

I have read your arguments that he is a socialist, and I am not convinced. I beleiev someone may have some socialist ideas but not be a socialist. Most people have very complex beliefs that borrow from many schools of thought. I do not think he is a socialist, though he is obviously far more liberal than you are.
If he is a socialist, that by itself does not matter much to me. I will weigh the whole package of what the dems offer vs the whole package of what the reps offer and then vote. There are some things I like about each likely platform, and some things I know I really don't like about each.
More than being pro or con any candidate I personally find arguments that a candidate should lose stature because they talk with this group or that group does smack of censuring free speach and association. That does concern me. More than any single set of candidates or election.

We're making progress. So, you admit that it doesn't matter to you whether or not Obama is a socialist. It matters a lot to me. I see where socialism has taken Europe and I don't want to go down that road, or should I say continue going down that road.
You say that a candidate shouldn't lose stature because of what group they talk to. Obama did a lot more than talk to The New Party, he sought out their endorsement, and by some accounts may have actually become a member of what was a communist front group.

Then vote against him..... and quit acting like you aren't a socialist too. Every tax is socialist in nature. Every last single one. Not sure how many of you righties grasp that concept.

What politician speaks to any group without trying to get support? It's exceedingly rare.
If his speaking to them bothers you, vote for someone who bothers you less.
But to your point, it does bother me a little, but it by itself is not a major determination for me. There are other things I care about significanty more.

So, if I buy a candy bar and pay ten cents in tax, that makes me a socialist. Honestly, arguing with you is really not very stimulating. At least make an effort. I'm sure you can do better than that. Your arguments are getting weaker and weaker. If they get any worse, I think you may flatline.
