+1. Comps are there to be had such as rooms, meals, and what not. The player simply has to seek them out. I receive comps such as meals and free nights regularly and many times without asking for the comp.
However, to receive high value comps, you need to be a celebrity or spend significant wads of cash.
For example, the MGM Grand flies a relative of mine to Vegas, puts them up in their hotel, and comps things like tickets to local events three to four times per year. This same relative practically lives in Shreveport every Thu - Sun.
My relative has a contact at MGM. They phone and the MGM arranges everything. I used this person once simply by dropping the name of my relative. It is worth noting that it is not uncommon for my relative to win or lose $50,000 in a given weekend.
