ISO: a good housekeeper

I have searched high and low for “the perfect” cleaning lady. She doesn’t seem to exist.

This is what I consider perfect:

1.Will clean on a weekly basis
2.Will clean effectively (I had one say to me, “It’s 350 for the initial cleaning, but it’s a deep clean. We’re going to do your windows, baseboards, everything.” After she left, I started noticing that only random parts of my house were cleaned. It seemed that only half of the windows were cleaned, some of the rooms were vacuumed, occasional pieces of furniture were dusted, etc.)
3.Will not steal anything (including my house key)
4.Doesn’t up sell (Afterwards, “Oh, it’s 200 for your house, but that doesn’t include the floor.”)
5.Communicates effectively (English speaking, can use a phone to call if she isn’t going to show up, tells me exactly what she will/will not clean ahead of time, and tells me the exact cost ahead of time.)


Do any of you currently have a cleaning lady that you can refer to me?

Do you know where Sugars is? 410 and Vance Jackson, go down the access road past the Academy. Go in on the day shift (so's you don't have to pay valet plus a cover) and ask for the housemom. It'll be either Janey or Becky - ask either of them who is the lady who cleans Janey's house and if you can leave your number.

I know who the gal is, she's the substitute housemom on the night shift, but I don't know her name or any way to contact her except by going in to Sugars. She does a damned good job on Janey's house, and I've got high standards. Plus, they're all looking for more ways to make money so she might be interested.

Learn Spanish or attempt to meet her halfway. A good housekeeper knows what needs to be done on a normal basis and you just need to communicate the non routine stuff. If you are consistent and dependable for them I think you will find for the most part they will be the same for you.

Talk to your neighbors who use yard men or independent housekeepers, networking is best. BOL

Oden - learning Spanish with the lady who does our place would not work well at all considering her Mother language is Mandarin...

Dennis, whatever it takes was my point. Good people that want to work and have a network that keeps them in line are better than any agency IMOO. I am all for anyone that does an honest days work consistently for an honest days pay. They make for trusted employees was my point.

That's one of the stupidest comments I've seen in a day and a half.

Why the hell would she need to learn a foreign language when she's the one paying for the service in THIS country? If she was looking for a housekeeper in Spain your comment would at least make a little sense...but geez.

Also if I'm the one paying I don't need to meet anyone half way...that's why I'm paying. Either meet me all the way or I'll find someone who will.

Now back on topic. The only lady I ever had who preformed satisfactory had a check list that covered the weekly stuff, the monthy stuff and it seems like there was things that she did twice a year. She always left a comp of the check list. I would have married the lady, but her husband was big and he objected.
