This is a very good thread with a very interesting topic. It was aimed at guys, but I wish I could hear some responses from ladies on what has been said.
Thanks for the kind words Tiffani. I could have gone on (and frequently do) but I tried to provide the cliff notes version.
As for pre-screening I have many times offered my P-411 to a lady to pre-screen. Most of the time they do not do so unless I am making an appointment. I assume they figure why bother, who knows if he'll actually book or not? If he doesn't, it's a waste of time. (I do check my P-411 tracking, so I know that most don't even view my profile until AFTER I request an appointment).
Nevertheless I still make the offer. I hope that if nothing else it might earn brownie points in favor of her saying yes when I do ask.

Two reasons, I guess. The first is risk, in part providing information before necessary but more importantly the potential for offending. If you don't book relatively soon . . . well, in one instance it was two or three months (or more?) later. She mentioned that I'd broken the record for the longest time between screening and scheduling "ever." All's well that ends well, that time. But there have been at least a couple over the years to whom I supplied screening information but never booked.
The second is that pre-screening may not help all that much, since screening itself often isn't the problem, particularly now with P411. I know that some ladies still like to check with a few references in addition to P411, and that's fine, but most don't. In fact, some don't even check your profile. (Although the last time that happened to me, I had sent a request through P411 so at least the email she received identified how many OKs I had, even if not from whom.) If they don't call or email a couple of the ladies who provided OK's, the screening process with P411 takes just a minute or two.
The real problem with short-notice appointments is hearing back from her quickly, so that if she's unavailable you can ask someone else. Understandably, many ladies have jobs, families, or something else that prevents her from getting an email right away. Most of the time I planned ahead, but sometimes I had an unexpected opportunity on short notice -- e.g., figuring out at 10:00 am that I could see someone at 5:00 pm the same day. And often the ladies didn't receive my email inquiry at 10:00 am until it was too late. You can email two or three different ladies, which I tried sometimes. That improved the odds of getting a response before the window of opportunity closed, but some ladies still don't like that. Or you can give her only a short time to respond before moving on to someone else. So -- knowing that a lady often can be available on short notice, or that she's usually able to respond quickly to inquiries, or at least that she won't be offended by being one out of 2 or 3 you email in order not to miss that window of opportunity, may still be important for those who usually play on short notice.

Oh Miss Jameson, perhaps "Flagrant GPS" is too harsh a term.
This is a purely subjective reaction on my part to ladies who give me the impression that they are not bound by the same social rules the rest of us play by. Again, it is purely subjective.
An example might be a lady who is the focal point of major drama, or has an Alert posted on her behavior with clients, waits an inordinate amount of time before posting a rebuttal, (if ever), and shows a total lack of respect towards her potential client base.
As I said, it is a totally subjective reaction on my part to the behaviors I observe in the Hobby. But you know what? The same behaviors are all around us in our other lives too.

The use of the word Flagrant made me laugh... I think I've used the word as much as I possibly could today!
I can completely understand the 'drama queen' bit, but you say the 'lack of respect' thing, I have to examine my own behaviors. Because I'm not a respecter of Persons per se, and I treat you guys like I treat people I meet in my real life (always with the intention of uplifting and educating) I guess depending on perception, one could say that I'm disrespectful. But I would hope that my honesty would attract my potential client base. I don't know if I could change to appeal to all people, but I would rather be silent than be ugly. But if someone needs to hear the truth, I'm not beyond letting them hear it...

I find, however, that very few have the ability to accept short-notice appointments due to family or needing time to arrange an incall. That serendipitous situation I mentioned earlier was found with a woman who had no family obligations and was willing to see me in her home...not something many women (understandably) will do.

Okay, maybe my definition of short notice is different from you guys' definition. When I think short notice, I'm thinking at MINIMUM a 4 hour window. You call at lunch for an appointment after work. That's plenty of time to make arrangements on my end to meet you. Any smaller time frame and without P411, it would be very fortuitous to find someone.

I would love to hear from the ladies too, but I would hope they're taking notes. I have.

"Short notice" for me is defined as less than 4 hours. In my profession, that is sometimes all the lead time I have.

My interest / deal killers are probably more "anal / high maintenance" then a lot of guys, but they are what they are.... lol
- physical and personality attributes - based upon reviews, photos and other 411 I can gather
- quality of reviews - based upon the quantity and quality thereof, along with my perception of the review writer's historical record of reviews
- # of reviews that a provider has - not interested in high volumes
- level of advertising efforts - understated, low key and basically UTR are all I am interested in
- bad in-call location (Metro-plex Location) - ie... North Dallas/Plano is all I do as my "free" time is limited
- bad/cheap in-call type - provider arranged hotels do not interest me - much more prefer an apart in a "nice" area - if I need to do the hotel, I will only do a 4 star or better, for only a multi-hour session, as I basically live in hotels all week anyways
- web site - no web site, or cheapo sites are a personal pet peeve
- cheap photos, or worse yet, porno-type pics.... I like classy, refined and lady-like company and I suspect that the providers I see appreciate that I treat them as such
- WYSIWYG - truth in advertising is a must....

Probably the best way to determine what level of service, pricing and environmental factors to offer in order to move your business to the next "level", you should start reading the reviews of your would-be competition. Do market research by examining those people who appear to be successful in the market you are trying to penetrate or be penetrated by (pun intended).

The only reasons I would not see someone who is exactly my type:
1. My schedule
2. Sticking with ATF, the known sometimes trumps a new adventure.

Her reviews were grfeat and she seemed like a fun person, but every review suggested a price that I just couldn't do at that time. At the same time I was thinking Holly, but what killed it for me was that she was very selective, but no info on how. So I just assumed I wouldn't have what was needed for screening, since half the time I don't, and moved on. Found AO.Demon and was very happy.

For me, overwhelmingly, the answer is simple: screening. -- I simply will not risk having my "civilian life" put at risk. I don't ask the lady for ID, and I won't provide it, to anyone in the industry.
This relegates me to using AMPs. I've learned to live with that fact.
