#1 tell the provider when it is ok to text and when it is not, many assume that you are contacting them from a hobby phone and of course want to give you as much heads up as possible when needing to cancel.
#2 Get a hobby phone, cheap and well worth it. Be sure to hide it well... have heard many stories of it being found. Hide it well, coming from a woman, when we are home alone... we get to snooping and think of the best places to look. So maybe under the little flap of carpet in your trunk. Under the spare even.
#3 As far as how to get out of the situation....How close are you to the provider? Ask her to help... ask her to have a guy friend or someone call your phone when around your wife... play buddy buddy with the guy on the phone. Hang up and be like "OHHHH now i remember, that was a buddy from high school i ran into a few months back , i forgot i saved his number. His girlfriend texted me by accident from his phon... so weird" Or something along those lines.
