Great question Renee! I applaud you for having the care to find out what subs are preferring these days. In My opinion. I believe it varies from sub to sub. Some subs find discretion imperative, while others yearn to parade around for an audience while in full submission. Some of us proudly raise our freak flags :>
It is important to provide different forums for play. Parties and special events are a fabulous way to push your subs limits but discretion can still be provided if a Domina gets creative.

I've been wanting to try something on the wild side, but not sure where to start. As for the OP's ? as long as it was semi-private ie other like minded 'freaks' only probally at least after my first time. Personally, I will do whatever my Mistress (or Goddess) wants me to do, and wherever that may be is fine with me. Something to keep in mind in public vs. private play is that when you are in a public arena you are non-consensually bringing others into your scene. So while it sounds "cool" to make people squirm at watching you play in public, it's really not. You are violating their rights to NOT participate in the scene. And it's a good way to get attention from people you really don't want it from (i.e. law enforcement). Even if what you are doing is totally legal, just one phone call from someone is enough to get you questioned.

There's a gradiation here, of course. Going to say a club (like the Church here in Dallas) crossdressed or on a leash barely gets an eye batted at you. I've seen other scenes unfold there (foot worship, etc) that are tolerated, and even encouraged at times. But they do draw the line at keeping everything legal for an establishment that serves alcohol. Which makes sense, 'cause who wants to go to a bar that lost its liquor license?

It's rude to bring people into your scene if you haven't asked them to participate. Even those little humiliation trips to buy panties can turn out that way if the boy in question has to say "the panties are for me because my mistress told me to get them". The bottom line is common sense and courtesy need to be used.
