Default Could this be the greatest Sinatra song ever?

Although not a big hit....I think so. Powerful yet beautiful:

IMO it is one of Sinatra's worse !

His voice struggles with the lyrics and the melody.

So many, but one of my Sinatra favotie's (and Johnny Mercer lyrics) is Summer Wind.

I am far from a music critic, and I dunno that that is one of Frank's "best" works, OR his worst, but it's not one of my fav's either. I have no idea how to judge "best" when it comes to music. I do like this by Frank though....

I like this one by Sinatra simply because Cole Porter was able to use the word "ennui" as part of the intro.

He had a unique voice.

I understand he was a terror in the recording studio, making life miserable for many in the room.

He wasn't perfect. Several of these threads reveal him breaking meter causing the orchestra conductor and the musicians to adjust constantly.

My Way (written by Paul Anka) will be his signiture song. The song IMHO is a perfect one to play at a funeral, but if there was license to alter the song, at a wake, it should be sung "I did it His way."

Paul Anka was only responsible for rewriting the libretto for a French composition. I have a version in French by one of my favorites Mireille Mathieu.

From Wiki:

"My Way" is a song popularized by Frank Sinatra. Its lyrics were written by Paul Anka and set to music based on the French song "Comme d'habitude" composed in 1967 by Claude François and Jacques Revaux, with lyrics by Claude François and Gilles Thibault. Anka's English lyrics are unrelated to the original French song. "My Way" is often quoted as the most covered song in history.
