I would say the vast majority of men tell me they are hobbyists because they simply want sex without the strings/committment/problems. That's the first and most common answer. Second is...no longer having sex with their SO, or the SO is too conservative or ill. Third is variety. Fourth is because they're too busy to have an SO. But those are the most common reasons I hear.
