If you're going to have two "smart" phones, one for public use, one for hobby, I would strongly suggest getting entirely different smart phones. That way, you don't pick up the hobby phone thinking it's the public one and call your spouse, who wonders, "who the fuck is this?"

If you use a hobby phone a lot I'd say straight talk if you call someone every now and again I'd say google voice. Just MO :-)

Yes, i just run it out of the email, it works the same but better. The key pad etc comes up like the app. I get the text alerts as the email is attached to the phone thats used with the GV..

Well... I signed up for Vumber. I got my first phone call and the call quality was awful. The client couldn't even hear me as it kept breaking up. I have already cancelled my service with them. Not only that, but they say you can edit your voicemail message, but there's no option to do that. Luckily I was only on the 1st day of the 14-day trial period.

So back to Google Voice I go.

men and women have a different perspective on this. It is a business tool to the Lady, she needs all of the bells and whistles. Since she is already out there as a Provider, having a super private phone would be sort of a non issue.

But, the guys, especially the married ones, want something that can in no way be traced to any human being. Since it is used only to communicate with a Provider, it does not have to be where anyone else is liable to find it and say 'what's this'.

I just got a 300 free free minute with the purchase of 120 minutes for my Hobby TracPhone. Hell, that will do Sarah and me till mid spring.

Maybe I am a tad paranoid, all of this hi-tech stuff does scare me. A friend has a new car with the latest OnStar, and he marveled at how it knew where he was all the time. I said to him, "say it like this. That thing KNOWS where you are all of the time".

Something to think about.

So do most smart phones, Jackie. Built in GPS, but you can usually disable it.

I use a TracPhone. It's a piece of shit compared to my real phone, but it gets the job done. I guess I did enough hobbying the last couple of years I finally got used to it.
