I concur with some of the opinions here - don't ever talk to the police! You don't have to talk to them so don't. If you are not breaking the law, then he has no business bothering you!

Why are you all talking when I told you to STFU?

But seriously, I truly believe those persons who most need to STFU are the ones least likely to, and in most need of a good lawyer. Don't believe me? Drop me a line and I'll take you on a tour of Sterrett one day. There aren't many brain surgeons cooling their heels in there.

Doesn't matter if you think you are breaking the law or not. There are so many obscure laws on the books that are rarely enforced that it would scare you. Listen to what ShysterJon as posted more than once on this board and ASPD, SHUT THE FUCK UP and only identify yourself.

ANYTHING YOU SAY CAN AND WILL BE USED AGAINST YOU!

As Ron White says, "I had the right to remain silent, but not the ability". He is sooo right.

Just always take donuts with you so if you get stopped show him the donuts and tell him he can have them then he will leave you alone.

This is why lawyers make great hobbyists. I've had this happen once -- I pull out my bar card, and a business card, and say "I was seeing my client."

Of course this doesn't work on Harry Hines in the car, but I don't do that -- hotels and apartments only.

Generally though, John's advice is the best -- STFU. If he asks who you are, tell him, DON"T #*($ LIE, and then ask if you're free to go. Other than that, say nothing.

I tell almost everyone that I'm a licensed massage therapist. So, I have my massage license on me at ALL TIMES. So, feel free to tell them you were here for a massage. that I can prove with being licensed by the state of Texas. Nothing wrong with seeing me here. I pay the rent and am on the lease... all can be proved.

Either that or .. like others said... Just walk away. You aren't they're property unless you are physically handcuffed and they wouldn't have a reason to do that to you for just walking.

Well, I am going to say what I do, not to give legal advice, and not to encourage anyone to break the law, which in my opinion, I do not do.
I ALWAYS have a cover story, one that stands up to scrutiny and I can credibly refer to later. I rehearse before hand what I am going to say, and I stick to that script.
I carry a card that identifies myself as an independent real estate investor. It cost 19.95 to get 25 made online. If I were going to meet someone at an office building, I would first get the name of a real attorney in that office building, or a mortgage company, or a title company, that I could walk into after encountering an Officer and make a legitimate inquiry to him. Such as, do you do real estate law? Do you loan money on property in this area? They will talk with you or make an appointment. For me, this covers everything except the places such as 7th, which are in an obvious business to law enforcement.
My excuse, which we all know is not an excuse, and to not get the girls in trouble, is I mistakenly thought this was a regular massage parlour, saw it in the Observer ( a copy of which is in my car, and I can point to the ad) in the massage section, because my feet hurt. I was eating in the area. Nobody really explained it to me because they have poor english, just said "shower" which I shook my head yes to because I needed one. After I took the shower, I read the sign saying not to ask for a message, and I was trying to figure out what to do next, and you boys came in here. So if you will let me, I would like to go. If you get the ride, tell your wife the same story, but she probably wouldn't believe it. I don't have one, nor a corporate job to worry about. I would not ever discuss money. In my mind, everyone knows you wouldn't get a shower and massage without paying, but money is a dangerous subject to talk about. I would stick to the script - it is probably true for a first timer somewhere anyway. If they say they saw me before, they are mistaken. If they have video evidence I have been there before, well then I'm fucked no matter what. I'd shut up then. Politely lying to cops doesn't piss them off unless they are already in a bad mood. Everyone lies to them all the time - they pretend it bothers them when it suits their purposes. They are smart in these situations, but generally have bigger fish to fry. I have spoken to cops after seeing a hooker, and I told the officer, "Sir, I haven't done anything wrong, we were just talking. He just laughed and told me to get lost, which I did quicker than hell."
If you can't pull something like that off, you should STFU!
P.S. I would never go to an apartment or house, because I cannot think of a better way to get trapped by crime. If I did, though, I'd give the police the same story about the Observer and a massage, and I would have an Observer in my car. It is not illegal for me to go to someone's house or apartment to get a massage. If it is illegal for them, how am I supposed to know that?
