Well, point one is that THE evidence was some seriously botched DNA. Second is a confession that wouldn't have made it past (or into) a grand jury, even in Wilco. Third was the Italian legal system in which you essentially have to prove yourself innocent. Fourth is that the prosecution doesn't have to provide exculpatory evidence, but the defense has to turn over all evidence it might discover. Was/Is she guilty, not sure but I think not. Was/Is her "boyfriend" guilty. I think so. He seems like he manipulated her that night to clean up, since she admits to having been very high at the time.

Wasn't he really high too? That is a good reason for why she cleaned up the blood though...it slipped my mind that they were both really high at the time. But doesn't marijuana make you less likely to clean your house? Were they on something else?

Something I just read in a "learned" journal (psych) was that sometimes "very good looking girl kills very good looking girl" is "obvious" are convicted since they were "competing". Which is, of course, bullshit, but a semi-decent prosecutor can convince a jury that it happened that way.

The article looked at criminal arrests and convictions of various profiles. If you're black you have little chance of being acquitted outside of Detroit and Chicago. Unless your victim was black. It helps to be rich and white. Unless you're a white woman accused of murdering anybody except a black man.

The study was conducted well before her release but does mention her case as one of the high profile cases that provoked the study. Ask your psych for the October 3 issue of The American Journal of Psychiatry. Unless you understand the DSM and statistics, the article will be much better than Ambien. And most of the rest? Well I suggest looking for the issue in late 2009 on "The Relationship of Female on Female Sexual Assault and Gender Preference." Seems bi women are more likely to "rape" straight women of a different racial group. Pretty graphic detail.
