Today marks the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on 9-11-2001.
While I'm not a big fan of the way the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq have been handled, and I'm sure that everyone has there own opinions about them, I hope we remember all the people that died in the Twin Towers that day, and the reason that we went to Afghanistan in the first place.

Mr. Smith111,

I agree with you on all points. But rather than turn this into a political discussion, or highjack the thread, would anyone like to share their memories of that day?

I was working corporate in the Pacific Northwest at the time. Was just pulling into the parking lot when my car radio announced a special bulletin. Not interested, as I knew I had a full work load on schedule for the day, I turned off my car and entered the building. As I settled into my desk, I turned on my small radio, as was my habit, as the announcement of the second plane was made.

All my co-workers and I sat in stunned disbelief as the reports continued to come in. Not much was accomplished that day as tears and rage overtook all of us.

When I left work that day, I spent the entire evening walking in Waterfront Park along the Columbia River. When I came upon the Battleship Oregon Memorial in the park, there were several people there already. I finally collapsed on a bench and cried like a baby.

I was at work and remember everyone after just kind of stumbled through the day, totally preoccupied with what had happened and contemplating what it meant for everyone's future. I didn't see the footage untill I got home that night and was in disbelief of what I watched.

I was a student at a local vocational school. As soon as I got to school, thats when I saw the second plane hit. I was like WTF?!! It looked like something you would see in a movie and never thought something like this would happen in reality. Ever since 9/11, I think it has brought everyone to unite together and everyone got along with each other better. I'm just glad that the world got rid of Osama Bin Laden! Maybe this world would be much peaceful now.
