I am old enough to remember when Butch Hair Wax hit the scene, the style that we used it on was a "bulldog flattop", where you combed your hair forward in the middle, into a hook in the front. The sides were left long ans swept back.

This became pretty popular, and was recognized as the "hoodlum" haircut. The "authorities", ie school administrators, even went so far as to ban boys from combing their hair forward.

How many of you remember the originol "DEP". "Concrete in a Jar" would have been a better name, because when it set, that is what your hair felt like.

I have seen DEP but I remember this shit as being "Concrete in a Jar"!
