Olà,
May i recite yet another splendid work of propaganda pretending to be scientific research:
"The men who buy sex are your neighbors and colleagues. A new study reveals how the burgeoning demand for porn and prostitutes is warping personal relationships and endangering women and girls." - Melissa Farley/AntiProstitution Feminist and Psychologist
oh, dear John`s read on, i am sure you all agree with that little notion of the research:
"Sex buyers were far more likely than non-sex buyers to commit felonies, misdemeanors, crimes related to violence against women, substance abuse-related crimes, assaults, crimes with weapons, and crimes against authority. All of the crimes known to be associated with violence against women were reported by sex buyers; none were reported by non-sex buyers."
or that one:
"Both sex buyers and non-sex buyers evidenced extensive knowledge of the physical and psychological harms of prostitution. The men observed common psychological symptoms include low self-esteem, depression, substance abuse disorders, and dissociative disorders. Prostituted women also suffer from posttraumatic stress disorder, eating disorders, and chronic physical symptoms typically seen in those subjected to violence and terror"
Here is yet another one of these heteronormative interpretations that are supposed to make escorts look like victims incapable of having an opinion and walk or stand up for themselves. I add a grain of truth into the only one thing that i find interesting, its the notion that escorts and clients do not live in the same social areas.
So the gap between the social areas is the only one i regard as "true" in this research, but the interpretations of their so called research, is less intriguing and shows the typical heteronormative bias.
Wouldn`t you agree with me that its a heck of a heck of a heck of a heck of a coincidence that a research done by an "anti pornography feminist and anti-sexwork feminist" exactly concludes that sexworkj is bad and destructive? Oh wow. Life is easy...

and here is another escorts take on this study, i find her whole blog just amazingly funny ;-) , her name is Laura Lee , and she is a scottish escort:
"Meanwhile, I see Melissa Farley has been expatiating on "how the burgeoning demand for porn and prostitutes is warping personal relationships and endangering women and girls." Surely she means "saving personal relationships and empowering women" ? Apparently not. Ms. Farley is a clinical psychologist who is the author of several studies of prostitutes, which claim high rates of post-traumatic stress disorder among the women studied. Of course the fact that she is also an "extreme feminist" ( to put it kindly ) and an anti-prostitution activist may just have SOME influence on her research, wouldn't you say ?
The link to the article is here, hosted rather shamefully by Newsweek, rather than The National Enquirer, which is where it belongs, right next to the story about Elvis being alive and well and working on an oil rig just off the coast of Aberdeen. Strap yourselves in for this quote -
"Overall, the attitudes and habits of sex buyers reveal them as men who dehumanize and commodify women, view them with anger and contempt, lack empathy for their suffering, and relish their own ability to inflict pain and degradation."
REALLY ? The next time I have my slave bitch hog tied and gagged I'll remind him that he is lacking in empathy for my suffering"
