It is beautiful here in October. The fall leaves, cold crisp nights and moderate temperatures during the day.

There is no snow in october... just some of the most breathtaking fall colors you will see anywhere in this country... Fall is one of my favorite seasons here as i dont believe it can be duplicated anywhere else... Sure there is the occasional freak storm, but thats not usually til the end of the month... I know some may comment about the once in a lifetime storm we had a few years ago, which did have the markings of Armageddon, but we survived...

I was in PennBrook at the time of that storm. And it chased me all the way to Brockport. The flakes of snow where huge and beautiful. But yes come and see the colors of the upstate NY Fall. Great time of year. But then I am one in a few that likes winter here.

I have to agree with Docdave - October can be a glorious time of year to visit WNY. The colors are unbelievable and the temps are very comfortable. And if we get one of those freak storms, think about the tales you can tell your grandchildren!

Default October Country

I like how Ray Bradbury referred to the Northeast as "October Country"
Without question the best month of the year around here. Vivid colors, cider,
a gazillion varieties of apples to sample, crisp days etc.

Nothing greater than to have sex on a blanket in the middle of a grassy knoll surrounded by trees with the fall color leaves on a warm October day! I've done it a few times in the past. You never forget, especially when you have a good "cowgirl"!! Yee Haa!

Its all been said. October is a great month to spend time in western NY. Just be sure to allow yourself a day to travel around and soak up some of it!

October can be a very beautiful time of year to visit Rochester and Upstate NY. Pack a sweater or a light jacket. Sometimes the weather can be cool. Snow? Not likely unless it's below 32 degrees...which doesn't happen often. Has it happen in the past? Sure.... will it happen this October? Not likely.

I agree; if you do make a trip up here again, take a day just to enjoy the sites/views. Get some hot apple cider and a fritter!! Fall is just gorgeous around here. Everything is orange, reds, and browns. Sunny afternoons in the 50's-60's. Sometimes we are lucky and it even gets above 70.

My suggestion would be to come in the middle of October when fall is really at its peak of beauty.
