Newbie Edicate Question

I had an appointment with a provider that I had to cancel due to car trouble. I called her 90 minutes before the appointment time to let her know I couldn't make it. I plan on rescheduling and wanted to do whatever is proper. What would be expected in this situation? Should I pay for the entire missed hour, just give her something extra? Her rate for the hour is $200.

That should best be handled between you and the provider. Usually the provider is understanding if you had a good reason for not being there.

On the other hand, many touring ladies book tight schedules and unless she was able to fill your cancellation, she has truly lost expected income.

This might be a good topic for the coed discussions.

If it's a local girl ... You gave her good notice .. and you reschedule I would think your cool. if you give her a tip on your next visit that would be a nice gesture.

Thanks for the help. Appointment was in her home town. I'll take Revive's suggestion and drop her a decent tip.

There are some clients that feel the need to make the rest of us look bad by bringing a bottle of pinot grigio to every date. Heck ... As little as I drink I'd probably get drunk off her breath after she drank it. That's right I'm a lightweight and proud!

I live away from most providers and have had the same concern about what to do if I had a car wreck or something else happened. I agree you should call as soon as possible but also don't make a habit of it, otherwise you may not get another appointment.

Seriously, though...EXCELLENT question. That's an etiquette question I think even seasoned hobbyists could stand to ponder.

I've had this happen to me quite frequently on tour to NWA, and it is SO frustrating. I do understand that things come up...but repeat offenders are now being asked to make a deposit when they decide to schedule in the future. This may be a hobby for you guys, but it's a business to us. Please try to remember that when canceling unnecessarily.
