Big Louie Explains the Budget Issue
"If the US Government was a family, they would be making $58,000 a year, they spend $75,000 a year, & are $327,000 in credit card debt. They are currently proposing BIG spending cuts to reduce their spending to $72,000 a year. These are the actual proportions of the federal budget & debt, reduced to a level we can understand." - Dave Ramsey

Dave Ramsey sould add the the government can give itself a raise.....yet the very rich do not want the government to give itself a raise and help pay for all the things the very rich want and bought. For those that do not know....it is military spending.
The government presently has a surplus in SS and Medicare.
So what Dave Ramsey is saying in a round abot way that the rich do not want to pay for their military toys.

My thoughts are this... (not in any particular order)
Get our troops out of Iraq, Afghanistan and quit bombing Libya. Stop trying to play police of the world. Quit propping up NATO and the UN. People don't hate us because we are good and wholesome, they hate us because we are f*cking things up by being in their countries killing their people.
Stop giving money to and supporting most other countries. Especially the ones that hate us.
Cut back on entitlement spending or put in place, if your not retired or have a severe heath problem, your going to now be working for the federal government doing something. You get money from the government, you need to be contributing something back. Even if its 10 hours a week. Put a time limit on the welfare. JFK said it very well, "Do not ask what the country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.
Everyone in the house and senate including the president needs to take a 10% pay cut.
Raise taxes on the wealthy, middle class and poor. My thoughts? a flat tax.
Get rid of a lot of government regulations. Let companies grow. The faster companies can grow, the more people it will employee and the more taxes the government can bring in.
Put a cap on the price of gasoline of $2.50 a gallon. When prices go above this, the poor & middle class stop buying other things, just to pay for gas.
Put in place more "Right to Work States". Unions are killing us globally. When it costs $500 for something here due to a Union and $400 to buy it in another country and have it shipped here. What are you going to think companies will do?
TORT reform and get rid of Obama care. Make it to where it cost less to practice medicain. There is a time and a place for national health care. When the government goes back into the black and can afford it, then pass it.
We got our selves into this mess, everyone needs to contribute to get out of this mess.

Everybody pays taxes....
The poor may not pay Federal taxes but then again they are poor. They pay huge % of their income in state and local taxes.
You do understand on one hand that you argue for tax cuts and on the other you argue for more people to pay Federal taxes. Which is it?
Do you just want the poor to pay more in Federal taxes and the rich to pay less?
That is wtf you are arguing about. You do realize that don't you?

Poor people buy all the cheap ass shit from Wal-Mart. Why. Because that is where poor people shop.
Wal-Mart is the biggest employer in the country. So poor people employ (indirectly) a shit load of people.
The problem is that the rich folks do not want to pay for the toys (military) they bought.
Have you ever seen a poor person start a war?
Those are some of the questions you need to be asking.
Why the fuc won't the rich pay for their toys?

Fully Agree
Stop giving money to and supporting most other countries. Especially the ones that hate us.
Agree
Cut back on entitlement spending or put in place, if your not retired or have a severe heath problem, your going to now be working for the federal government doing something. You get money from the government, you need to be contributing something back. Even if its 10 hours a week. Put a time limit on the welfare. I would support this
Everyone in the house and senate including the president needs to take a 10% pay cut.
Hmmm not sure that would make much a difference so I am neutral on this
Raise taxes on the wealthy, middle class and poor. My thoughts? a flat tax.
YES I FULLY SUPPORT A FLAT TAX, just get rid of the IRS and implement a flat sales tax to consumer goods, that way everyone pays taxes including criminals.
Get rid of a lot of government regulations. Let companies grow. The faster companies can grow, the more people it will employee and the more taxes the government can bring in.
Hmm partially agree, there are some regulations that are good.
Put a cap on the price of gasoline of $2.50 a gallon. When prices go above this, the poor & middle class stop buying other things, just to pay for gas.
Disagree, put a cap on the gasoline tax but I do not believe the government should regulate the price of gas to that extreme, if the barrel of crude goes up, how can the givernment regulate the price of gas?
Put in place more "Right to Work States". Unions are killing us globally. When it costs $500 for something here due to a Union and $400 to buy it in another country and have it shipped here. What are you going to think companies will do?
I would support this
TORT reform and get rid of Obama care. Make it to where it cost less to practice medicain. There is a time and a place for national health care. When the government goes back into the black and can afford it, then pass it.
I am on the fence on this, but in principle I agree with the approach
We got our selves into this mess, everyone needs to contribute to get out of this mess.
We did not get ourselves into this mess, stupid government programs and politicians did. but I agree we cannot expect the clowns to get us out of it and we have to contribute.

Raising the tax rate on the wealth is not going to have any effect what so ever on their ability to employee people. Here are a few facts:
The 400 richest families in America, who saw their wealth increase by some $400 billion during the Bush years, have now accumulated $1.27 trillion in wealth. Four hundred families! During the last fifteen years, while these enormously rich people became much richer their effective tax rates were slashed almost in half. While the highest-paid 400 Americans had an average income of $345 million in 2007, as a result of Bush tax policy they now pay an effective tax rate of 16.6 percent, the lowest on record.
Not content with huge tax breaks on their income; not content with massive corporate tax loopholes; not content with trade laws enabling them to outsource the jobs of millions of American workers to low-wage countries and not content with tax havens around the world, the 400 and the companies they control and their lobbyists are working feverishly to either eliminate the estate tax or substantially lower it. THey got it stopped for a year but it will come back in 2012. If they are successful at wiping out the estate tax for good, as they came close to doing in 2006 with every Republican but two voting to do, it would increase the national debt by over $1 trillion during a ten-year period. At a time when we already have trillions in debt, enormous unmet needs and the highest level of wealth inequality in the industrialized world, it is simply obscene to provide more tax breaks to multi-millionaires and billionaires.
But it's not just wealthy individuals who grotesquely manipulate the system for their benefit. It's the multinational corporations they own and control. In 2009, Exxon Mobil, the most profitable corporation in history made $19 billion in profits and not only paid no federal income tax—they actually received a $156 million refund from the government. In 2005, one out of every four large corporations in the United States paid no federal income taxes while earning $1.1 trillion in revenue.
There's another way to look at how rich the 400 are compared to the rest of the country: In 2009, if you were to add up the total fortune of America's richest 400 people, that amount—$1.27 trillion—would be more than the holdings of the bottom 50 percent of Americans, less than $1.22 trillion.
Granted, many of the nation's top earners, including Bill Gates and Warren Buffett, contribute a tremendous amount of their wealth to charity each year, and will continue to do so. But many others, like Charles and David Koch, who contribute to a wide range of right-wing causes, are also actively fighting to weaken working-class rights (as they did in the recent Wisconsin union fracas).
I want all of you who do not want to increase the tax on the ultra rich to chew on those facts.

So raising another $2000 in income, err, taxes isn't going to make much difference...or cutting $2000 in spending...nor doing both.
Seems like the only way out in your analogy is to declare bankruptcy.

Really? Here are a few facts about Texas, everyone's favorite right to work state.
Texas ranks 46th in income disparity -- Of the all the jobs in Texas created last year, 37 percent paid at or below minimum wage -- and the state leads the nation in total minimum wage workers, according to a recent New York Times report.

You forgot something Biglouie. Even though the family is in serious trouble they still send $1,300 every year to foreign countries....including those like Venezuela and China.

http://blog.heritage.org/2011/05/27/...ng-job-growth/
Everything’s Bigger in Texas – Including Job Growth
The private sector is where its at; less bureaucracy, more opportunity to advance and the ability to create and maintain jobs even in the midst of a recession. It certainly kept Texas on its feet and winning the jobs race by a landslide in the past decade. According to a new study from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Lonestar state added 732,000 private sector jobs in the past 10 years, while no other state added more than 100,000. In fact, only 19 states plus the District of Columbia added any jobs at all!
What does Texas know that California and Michigan don’t? Each of those states lost 623,700 and 619,200 jobs respectively.
