Default Defense Spending Declines Since End of Cold War----Thank you Mr. Reagan!

In 2010 national defense costs about 680 billion dollars, which translates to approximately 4.5% of GDP. The 2 wars are about 1-2% of GDP. During the cold war (1946-1989) defense spending as a share of GDP averaged 7.7%.
Overall, the share of national income that goes to defense has been declining, with the expectation of two minor bumps associated with the Iraq war and now the escalation in Afghanistan.
There are those in Europe who claim that the U.S is engaged in an arms race. However all of the increase in military spending is due to the operations in Afghanistan and Iraq, in fact in terms of procuring weapons excluding Iraq and Afghanistan U.S military spending as a share of GDP has declined.

The morons [WDF, Doofus and their commie friends] are wrong again!.....I particularly found it funny when Doofus stated that 2x the defense spending of the 2nd country was sufficient....he continually demonstrates that he is appropriately named....he doesn't even know why we have a military and what we need it for....of course, he's one of those pussies who doesn't have the balls to do any military service.......if he'd stop doing anal on hairless-18 year old filipino boys and spend the time reading, he'd know more........I don't even think he'll join after same sex spousal benefits are implemented, but he may well marry a service man! Of the rainbow kind....Doofus wants to be a military wife! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA!

Reagan: A great man and a great Presidency who won a second term by one of the largest electorate landslides in American history !

And he won reelection in the depth of the worse recession in American history! And with an advesarial MSM who despised and maligned him.
