Poker.....who wants to play?

I love playing the game but sometimes its difficult finding a one, so I'm hoping to host one of my own. Thinking 7/22 or thereabouts; this will be a legit game, no "hobby transactions" on the premises please. Below are the preliminary parameters for the game, subject to change:

1. I'm looking for 8 to 9 people. If you wanna bring a guest, they must play. I want to avoid a situation where 10 people are playing and there are 20 people milling around outside, that's just asking for trouble.

2. Friendly stakes for now, no more than $50 to buy in for this first game. Higher stakes later if there is interest.

3. No smoking! BYOB but be responsible and respectful. If you get smashed and out of hand, you will be put out on your ass.

4. Tournament style unless I get more requests that it be a ring game.

Four very simple rules for now.....more details later when I get players lined up. If you are interested, let me know as soon as possible. I wanna get the details and players sorted by next weekend.

Considering that gambling is illegal I suggest pm s and do not post the location of the game or time.

Pickupkid, gambling is NOT illegal in Texas. It is only illegal if you are playing against the house, the house takes a cut/rake, one or more persons have an unfair advantage (mathematically) over the other players, but this is really an extension of the house edge law. Also, it must be done entirely in a private area and no "door fees" are permitted.

Back on point though, I may be interested however I am skeptical/weary. It is nothing personal, mind you, it's just I don't know you and you don't have much of a board reputation per se. What can I say? I'm paranoid! LOL If some others take the plunge and give good feedback, I may be very interested in future games though. Good luck on your game, and I'm sure you will all have fun.

Thanks Marcus, I was about to post with the same explanation. I assure everyone that this will be a totally legit game, no rake or house cut, all money will be paid out.....I understand your point about being leary, no offense taken, its just part of the difficulties of getting a good clean poker game together unfortunately. Believe me, Im a small business owner and I dont want any trouble either, which is why I would only like the people who are actually gonna play to be here. Last thing I need is someone who isnt even playing doing something stupid outside while Im trying to focus on the game inside. However, pickup, your suggestion about the location and time is well taken. Only the people who are playing will be privy to that info.
