My faith in human nature has also been renewed, but in a bad way.

I've always held that how a person appears has a lot to do with how people perceive them.

Take Casey (the mom on trial) for example. She is young and sweet looking and IMHO she had this working for her since day one. A lot of people didn't think this sweet and innocent looking lady could kill a child.

Now if it were Casey's 40+ year old boyfriend/husband on trial and he looked like a bit of a perv, he would have had one foot in the grave before the trial started.

Perception isn't everything, but it may have been enough for Casey to get acquitted.

I also feel that a negative perception is why the state of Texas has paid out a couple of million bucks to prisoners who were innocent from the get go and spent many years in the prisons for something they didn't do.

Do not ever underestimate the power of appearance.

The State did not prove it's case beyond a reasonable doubt.

There is a lot of difference what we hear out here, and what the Jury is actually presented with. Keep in mind, much of what was on on Nancy Grace every night might never have been presented as evidence in the trial.

Or then, maybe Florida managed to pick 12 total morons as Jurors. Who Knows?

Lyndsey Lohan will be perfect for the part of Casey Anthony in the sure to be released Made For TV Movie.

We all know by now that a not guilty verdict does not mean she is innocent.
As Jackie said above, it only means that the prosecution was not able to prove that she did it.

I for one would much rather live in a place where we are innocent until proven guilty than the other way 'round.
As sad as it is, I appreciate the jurors using their head instead of emotion to carry out their jobs as they should.

Absolutely! The innocent are convicted from time-to-time. The guilty are acquitted. It's not a perfect world...

The $64M question...allowing for inflation...is did the government meet its burden & the jury simply wasn't paying attention...who knows? I didn't watch enough of the trial to render an informed opinion. From what little I've watched & read about the case, it may stand for the preposition that what's said by a defense attorney in the opening statement carries much more weight than anything done thereafter. Why run the risk of cross-examination by taking the stand to deny guilt & offer alternative theories of the crime if your attorney can do it for you in the opening?

Ding, ding, ding!!! The system was designed to operate under the premise that it is better to acquit a guilty party than it is to convict an innocent party.

If that is what they did, then good for them! If they didn't, shame on them! That's about all you can say at this point. You hope they came to a logical conclusion based on all the evidence.
