pigtails and ponytails are for dipping in inkwells. Dam when I was in school we had the old desks with the inkwell holder. All nice and stained. But no dam ink wells. When i was a rug rat I think I would have liked to dip a few pigtails/ponytails in the ink.

*Giggle* I have never seen that before, when I was in school all of our desks and chairs were plastic with metal racks under the attached chair for putting your other books on, some of the desks had a place to set your drinks and we would fight for them.
