NBC or MSNBC its all the same, I'm surprised they even bothered trying to do the pledge.

For me, SNL an Conan O'Brien in the evenings gave them some redeeming qualities. Nowadays, they are completely worthless to me, and MSNBC is just plain unwatchable.

The pledge is not some pot luck buffet where you go through and pick out the stuff you want and dump the rest. You either are down with the whole thing or just leave it alone.

That's horseshit and you know it. Under God was added in as a reaction to atheist pinko commies and McCarthyism.
Quote:
The Pledge of Allegiance was first written in 1892 for a magazine contest, and it read: "I Pledge Allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands; one nation indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." The Pledge became part of the US Flag Code in 1942, and in 1954 President Eisenhower and Congress added the phrase "under God” into the Pledge.
Additionally, a very valid argument could be made that the under god portion violates the establishment clause of the first amendment.

One of the nicer things about forums like this (and other home based phenomenons) is that members are allowed to issue their thoughts. Even those who use the Huffingtons and Puffingtons to copy, edit and create their "personal thoughts" can do so. Please note I copied and pasted the link itself to assure total truth in posting.

NO - I am not being over sensitive whatsoever as one person indicated.

Honestly I overlook and even chuckle when some folks accidentally forget the words to the National Anthem and other things and how others help:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXnT84Eu-oA

http://www.godvine.com/Autistic-Man-Singing-National-Anthem-Gets-Some-Help-407.html

The part I do NOT like is this was done on purpose and quite frankly ==> they got caught and realized the impact this could have on their networks. No wait -- since this is my thread and I have already indicated that folks can have their opinions (relating to the subject) herein; then might I simply say they realized how much money they would (or may have already) lose.

I have sat in many meetings like that and Board Presidents, Members of the Boards (appointed and/or elected) don't like to hear things like that. Folks realize that CEOs, CFOs, COOs and many others serve at the pleasure of the board and the stockholders.

Nice to see I feel most of you got it right!!

Would have loved to have seen them try it at a NASCAR event....

My loyalty to my country has nothing to do with my devotion to G-d and vice versa.

I'm reminded of the movie "We Were Soldiers" when LTC Moore was asked how he felt about being a father and a soldier:
"I can only hope that being good at one makes me better at the other."

I feel the same way about my citizenship and my faith. While the two are complementary characteristics, I don't see one necessarily being voided because of the absence of the other either.

At any rate, Fox has seen to it that we are no longer ONE NATION. We are now a hysterical nation divided into: 1) Christians and 2) an imaginary foe out to allegedly destroy Christianity.

Frankly, I'm more offended that NBC bowed to pressure from the Right and apologized at all. I'm sure my life will go on, however, and I will find a way to get over it.
