On topic, and speaking only from what I've heard from others, plenty of escorts get the short end of the stick when they barter, whether it's for photography or for web design.
I've personally had to fix or design a completely new site for ladies who traded several hours for what amounted to an eighth grader's web design efforts.
Sadly, I've had to do the same for a few who paid money - a lot of money - for a crap site.
I've found that bartering only works in person, and as has been mentioned previously, with someone whose work (or product/service) you know.
