Dynamic Boards Vs Dead Boards
One fundamental difference in boards might not be apparent to all.
Some boards are what I call dead boards.
By that, I mean TER is a dead board (Sorry, TER, no offense), but when you post there, the post is not live. It has to pass by a board of censors.
That is how they keep inflammatory posts from creating drama.
However, the downside of that approach is that waiting so long kills the moment.
I think ECCIE wisely chose to become a live board and handle the drama with good mods.
