I think ECCIE IS much much better than ASPD was, but not because someone died, GG I blame that on ECCIE's board ownership and mod staff. Those folks are determined to ensure we have a good time here!

However, I don't think that's what this thread is about, GG.
Perhaps you should check out this website and read my post again. I did not trash ECCIE or its management at all. They got handed the local hobby group on a silver platter. I'm glad ECCIE was here to take over.

I don't think there is any doubt why ECCIE is the dominant website in Texas......

The thing I find curious is that ECCIE provides those things to every locale for which it has forums, yet outside of Texas ECCIE seems to be a non-factor in the hobby market. I wonder why that is.

By the time I was playing eccie was the dominant source of reviews and information in TX, so where else would I go? No point in going to a secondary market participant with few providers and few reviews. I also relied heavily on P411, probably more than eccie in many ways, except that in the end eccie had most of the reviews (and P411 actually has none of them). So P411, for all its great features and benefit, especially in screening, is not by itself a sufficient source of information.

Successful sites need providers and clients. Eccie has both. This is a stable equilibrium. Given that providers are here, clients have no reason not to come here. Given that clients are here, providers have no reason not to come here.

I don't know the history but it sounds like the sudden departure of a previous dominant market participant left the door open for eccie. Once established, there is little reason not to stick with eccie, as long as the owners continue to provide expected and acceptable levels of service, and as long as no competitor with an innovative idea somehow manages to attract a large bloc of clients and/or providers. That is, eccie is likely to continue to be the dominant market participant in Texas as long as it delivers sufficient quality service, including copying any innovation attempted by a secondary site.

Of course, nothing is forever. The previous dominant market participant failed, and indeed eccie has had some recent problems with the quality of service. Presumably this was a temporary phenomenon and will not be often repeated, since such events lead customers (clients and providers) to explore other venues. Best to keep them happy and at home.

Even if you think ECCIE is much, much better than ASPD was, it wouldn't have exploded the way it did if ASPD hadn't died. ECCIE might have grown into the top board on its own over time, but the demise of ASPD was the golden moment for for ECCIE.

TRUE.... Although ASPD has started deteriorating several years back due to a lack of upgrades as well as the owners illness and lost ability to oversee the day to day operation of the sire, ECCIE and others really had no chance at much more than some of the disgruntled until her passing and lack of plans for continuation led to the site going dark.

ECCIE reminds me today of ASPD in it's first 4 years..... Before the first big crash.....

In it's final few years I was very disappointed in the direction the board had went.

I was hoping ERAPS could have been brought up and running sooner..... I think people would have settled for minimal functionality and some continuity while the site was made all glossy and enriched with features....

Those hopes were out of a loyalty to friends and family of people I considered friends... IT just took too darn long.....

Now ERAPS sits on the side the way ECCIE did for over a year...... up, running, ready to go.... in search of users....... Should ECCIE every go dark for more than a few days we'll probably see that site jump in prominence....

Users are fickle..... Loyal to whatever site meets their needs today and tomorrow......

Actually, a few years ago, people would have been hung, drawn and quartered for taking a shot like that. Maybe you ought to brush up on your reading skills, and quit being so defensive. This isn't Nuremberg, and nobody's on trial here. To be perfectly clear, I didn't imply you trashed ECCIE management. I just gave them props ... and I made an observation about ASPD, not ECCIE.

You're right about the silver platter, though. Without ASPD, ECCIE never would have had anything to use as a benchmark for improvement. When I first joined ASPD, it was a great place to be, especially in Austin. Then it wasn't. Didn't happen overnight.

My point is that the now defunct board was headed in that direction on its own. Its demise, imho, was imminent for other reasons than Amber's untimely death. I find ECCIE cleaner and more member friendly. Hopefully it will continue to be.

WHAT I like about ECCIE is pretty much everything I was uncomfortable with on ASPD. That's why I've chosen this path... HALLELUJAH! HOLY SHIT! WHERE'S THE TYLENOL!

I find it hilarious that ERAPS has 4 admins from last check. ECCIE has two! Sad when you have as many admins as you do members!

Shit you have as many mods and admins as u do members on ERAPS.....

I do not get in nearly as much trouble with MODs on eccie as I did on aspd for my Vocalization. I do appreciate being able to express my opinions with a little more freedom.

Hey Single Moms need love too!
I think Single Moms have received more "donations" here then any place else.

Come on everyone out there go out this week and "donate" to a Single Mom.

It will make you feel good.
