Good alien/horror movies

So im a huge movie buff, im sitting here watcing one of my fav alien movies & im wondering if there are any must see movies out there that I may have missed. My fav genre is alien/horror, here are some of my favs...

The fourth kind
War of the worlds
Independence day

i'm more of a comedy and drama person, but i think a really good and scary one is the original "alien" with sigourney weaver. i also like the original "war of the worlds"

Alien & Aliens

Maybe not scary...but very suspenseful. Every time I stumble across Aliens, I have to watch it.

If you like old school horror like way old school 1930's Frankenstein, Dracula, The Mummy, and the Creature from the Black Lagoon.

The Omen, Hellraiser, Halloween, and The Exorcist are classics as well.

The Thing (1982) was pretty suspenseful. I haven't seen it in a long time so im not sure how well the special effects will hold up.

Reign Of Fire is similar to an alien flick. Matthew Mcconaughey hit the weight room hard for that one.

Cloverleaf if you can stand the shaky camcorder filming style.

Decent, loved it
Terminator, was only interested in seeing the new one with sexy christian bale. Loved it! Im not a arnold fan.
Chainsaw massacre, remakes were good. The first original was good, after that, cheesy!
Cloverfield loved it, hope theres a #2
Reign of fire good, again i love christian bale
Constatine was pretty good
Hellraiser, cant get past the cover

Now, this is a very interesting topic because I'm also a huge movie buff and a huge horror/scifi fan. Someone of my age can remember being scared to death by the classics - Karloff's Mummy and Frankenstein, anything starring Vincent Price, etc. But when I showed these films to my kids at the same age I was when I saw them, they were bored to death. Such a shame.

That being said, there's only one movie I can think of that scared the hell out of me as a kid in its original version, and whose remake scared me just as much (if not more) as an adult - War of the Worlds. I hope the Tom Cruise version is the one you meant in your first post. I especially liked pointing out to my kids that Gene Barry, who played the part in the original that Tom Cruise played in the remake, had a cameo appearance at the very end of the remade version. Classy, and and bitter-sweet too, to see Gene Barry at such an old age.

That is unfortunate mastermind, because the 1930's horror classics are my faves, especially Frankenstein. I cry every time the villagers go after him and he dies in that windmill. Kids are so desensitized these days nothing fazes them.
