Did anybody see this coming?
I’ve been saying for years that Trump is going to enforce the laws on the books that have been “show” laws and never enforced.
But Trump is a genius.
How do you get most of the illegals to deport themselves?
Trump issues an EO on his first day to force illegals to register with the government.
Homeland Security then enforces that EO and backs it up in court with a 1940 law called the Alien Registration Act.
Then Trump does this:
“The Trump administration will begin charging illegal migrants $998 a day if they are under a deportation order and don't self-deport.
"Illegal aliens should use the CBP Home app to self-deport and leave the country now," Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in an interview with Fox News on Tuesday. "If they don’t, they will face the consequences. This includes a fine of $998 per day for every day that the illegal alien overstayed their final deportation order."
The administration is using a 1996 law that will allow illegal migrants to be fined if they don't leave the U.S.
Property can also be seized from illegal migrants who don't pay the fine.”

It’s brilliant.
So many people have said, you’ll never be able to hunt down and deport all of these illegals and I have always said that Trump will enforce the laws and make it difficult for them to stay because these laws have never been enforced before on a massive scale.
Trump first forces them all to register with the government.
If they don’t, they have broken the law and can be immediately deported.
When they register, they will be determined whether they are here illegally and can stay or not.
When they are ordered to deport.
They will be given a date to deport themselves.
If they don’t, they will then face almost a thousand dollars a day fine for every day past their deport date and face the confiscation of their property.
Trump has just set up a self deport system that also prevents democrats and their lawyers from preventing their forced deportation because now there are several laws in place that they will have violated if they don’t deport themselves.
Genius.
