So putting all the "Pravda" propaganda aside. They're actually good for stuff outside of Russia and another point of view into the US.

The observer also noted that the key to the solution may be a deal on mineral resources, which has not been signed. This agreement was part of Zelensky's victory plan, which, as many mistakenly believed, was supposed to provide Ukraine with a winning position in negotiations with Moscow, the analyst believes.
"The bottom line is that a mineral deal would strengthen the US interest in the conflict, and with some tricks, Ukraine could involve the US in a full-fledged confrontation with Russia, and maybe even in a real war," Mercouris explained.

Totally makes sense. Especially with Z talking about "security guarantees", figuring if US had a stake and a presence, would deter Russia or get US more involved than we want.
Trump didn't fall for the Z plan. You can say what you want, results speak for themselves.

The only thing you wrote that was accurate is that Nixon took us off the gold standard.

If being a pussy nation consists of not getting involved in foreign wars that are none of our business, I’m more than happy to be that.

Only because they'll be begging for help, like every other European war.
Someday we might learn to say "NO f-ing way, FAFO". See ya.

Same logic that was prevalent before we got pulled in before.
See the weak leadership on display in the Oval for what it is. Appeasement and hoping for the best instead of strong and decisive leadership projecting our interests and expanding the bubble of our influence and security options.
Xi and Vlad want the U.S. to pull back. Trump's happy to oblige

President Trump is offering Zelensky a honorable way out. He refused to take it.

They'll become our business, like in Iraq, Afghanistan, etc.? We really needed to spend $8 trillion on the war on terror and contribute to 4.5 million deaths. Or all those WMD's would come raining down on the USA and terrorists would be killing us right and left.
The argument for enabling war in Ukraine instead of peace is even weaker.
We don't know exactly what Trump is intending to do yet. He may continue the weapons flow to Ukraine to put pressure on Russia to settle this fairly.

HD thinks Putin is gonna stomp all over Europe like Charlemagne when he can’t take a Rhode Island size slice in which 90% of the inhabitants already consider themselves Russian. Might make a good Tom Clancy novel but not much else.

Haha! Good one. Admittedly a lot less than 90% consider themselves Russian.
Take a look at this,
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...y_expenditures
In 2023, the USA spent 8X more on defense than Russia. Collectively the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Poland, Ukraine and Spain spent 3.3X more, and except for Ukraine and Poland were each spending under 2.5% of GDP.

Too far. He wants to expand at the very least to Transnistria and take back the northern territories.
Trump would let him. NATO prevents that for the moment.

I've gone from thinking "WTF were Vance and Trump doing, why couldn't they keep their mouths shut," to believing they did the right thing. The following is from the Associated Press, today. Zelenskyy needs some prodding to come to the table.
Zelenskyy:
A deal to end the war between Ukraine and Russia “is still very, very far away,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, adding that he believed Ukraine’s long-term partnership with the U.S. was strong enough that American support would continue despite recent fraught relations with U.S. President Donald Trump.
“I think our relationship (with the U.S.) will continue, because it’s more than an occasional relationship,” Zelenskyy said late Sunday, referring to Washington’s support for the past three years of war.
“I believe that Ukraine has a strong enough partnership with the United States of America” to keep aid flowing, he said at a briefing in Ukrainian before leaving London.
Trump's Reply:
“This is the worst statement that could have been made by Zelenskyy, and America will not put up with it for much longer!” Trump said in a post on his Truth Social platform.
“It is what I was saying, this guy doesn’t want there to be Peace as long as he has America’s backing and, Europe, in the meeting they had with Zelenskyy, stated flatly that they cannot do the job without the U.S. — Probably not a great statement to have been made in terms of a show of strength against Russia,” Trump added in his post. “What are they thinking?”
https://apnews.com/article/russia-uk...a92adad1715231
According to a Gallup poll, 52% of Ukrainians want an end to the war as soon as possible. 38% believe their country should keep fighting until victory.

Time to end the madness.
