You're probably right. This is probably like EV's and solar cells. We'll have a difficult time competing with the Chinese, especially given that they already have the mines and processing facilities in place. Not that developing a rare elements/minerals supply apart from China is not worth doing. It definitely is. But our soon-to-be 51st state and Greenland are much closer, and more politically stable. Lol, kind of.

Seriously, Trump and Biden should have targeted rare earths in their trade wars, and developed a safe, secure supply of rare earths and the like, instead of levying huge tariffs on Chinese garments, toys and cheap consumer electronics. Dumb shits.

Thanks for bringing us back, Tiny. I promised a Mod I would not post off topic again. Some of the rest should do the same. They are not speaking objective facts or evidence, just using the opportunity to again attacking Biden, "Liberal Logic" etc. I'm out of that part of this.

The MINERAL DEAL is promising. That is the topic. We just need Trump to stop shooting his mouth off and stop pissing off Ukraine and Europe. This could benefit both sides and lead to a better relationship, freezing out Russia. If he gets some real diplomats to work on this. But not if we keep up with the partisan bullshit, infighting, and propaganda.

Attempting to reach back and draw a parallel of srts with historical events (or non-events):

Think back thirty five years or so to the First Gulf War (Desert Storm) This was the deal for oil we did not get from Kuwat. Now think back to the second Gulf War (Iraqi Freedom}, our invasion of Iraq . . .this is the deal for oil we did not get twenty five years ago.

Pretty much could be said for economic deals we did not get with Afghanistan . . .but the Chinese did.

I think President Trump is basically doing the right thing with Ukraine.

"Good" or "bad" . . .it will all depend on the details. However it is structured, its got to be seen as good for both them and us . . .and maybe the rest of Europe, but maybe not.
