Default Happy Tariff Day

Trump says reciprocal tariffs are beautiful words. He’s kicking off tariffs on things everyone buys.

Is this going to lower prices?

Well, not quite as Trump claims...proposed tariffs.

President Trump on Thursday signed a presidential memorandum proposing reciprocal tariffs that he maintains will crack down on unfair and discriminatory tariffs from both adversaries and allies.

The tariffs will not be immediately imposed but the signing of the memo allows his administration to begin a review process to get them started. White House officials said that Trump wants to move rapidly on imposing the tariffs, suggesting it would be “weeks” and no longer than “a few months” until they are in place.

Hopefully the MAGA crew will come out in force and explain everything.

Most economists that study the history of the result of tariffs find that they slow economies and lead to higher prices than would have been without them.

Think tariffs were a part of the Great Depression.

South Africa banned US businesses operating and exporting out of their country. Trump says it is a shit hole country anyway. Ok I made the last part up but probably what he is thinking.

Don't worry folks. This is just a hiccup. Trump is going to lead this country back to glory when this no rational thought tariff master plan works out in in the month of Neveruary.

"There could be some short-term disturbance, but long term it's going to make our country a fortune," Trump said. "No one really knows what's going to happen other than we know jobs are going to be produced at levels that we have never seen before."

Last week Trump signed an executive order stating that his administration would “promote the resettlement of Afrikaner refugees escaping government-sponsored race-based discrimination, including racially discriminatory property confiscation.”

Trump was a dumb ass to impose tariffs on steel and aluminum. There are a lot of American manufacturers and exporters that won't be competitive now that they have to pay more for those. This will destroy American jobs, raise prices paid by consumers, and it won't raise much revenue. The only winners will be the American crony capitalists who make steel and aluminum here. This was a really bad idea. It hurts us more than it helps us.

And the new China tariff may just backfire bigtime. Now more production of clothes and toys will move from China to places like Vietnam. And in retaliation for the tariff, China is restricting export of rare earth metals and minerals that are essential for our tech companies and defense contractors. If Trump, or Biden, knew his head from a hole in the ground, he would have lined up alternate sources of rare earth products a long time ago, before declaring war on China.

And please Blackman, stop trying to imitate Eccieuser, it just doesn't work. He came up with Happy Mother Fuckers' Day. That was hilarious. "Happy Tariff Day" pales by comparison.

Trump's tariffs are 'working', even before they're implemented.
Maybe just not like Trump thinks.

SharkNinja CEO Mark Barrocas
“Our industry doesn’t exist in the U.S.,” Barrocas told Bloomberg News on Thursday. “The product is not made here. The components are not made here. This is not like the car industry that you could say, ‘Well, let’s flex it back to the United States.’ That is not something that we believe is on the horizon.”

The company has since been sourcing much of its materials from Vietnam and Thailand and stockpiling other key items.
