Default issuance of meme coins by government officials

Is this a proper or ethical thing to do for government officials ? Profiting off their government service ? At least most wait until they are out of government to try and profit by writing books, speaking tours, etc.

President Trump had one issued within days of his inauguration. Melania too. With the
Trump family collecting handsome fees.

Since Melania is not working for the government, seems okay for her to do it.

Well, it sounds like the astute MAGA investors should be happy with their capital gains from such a wise investment opportunity. I know Trump at least is. LOL

And to specifically answer the question about whether it is ethical, I think a president who has a fan base with such an odd obsession with him should not be taking advantage of their investing ignorance or even be looking to profit while president so of course it is highly unethical IMO. On the other hand, he is a grifter with no ethics and if they are too fucking stupid to not figure that out, tough shit for them and the money they lost and wasted on his very lucrative money grab/scam.

More than 813,000 crypto wallets have lost a total of $2 billion after buying President Donald Trump’s memecoin, according to an assessment by Chainalysis commissioned by the New York Times. Meanwhile, the Trump Organization and its partners gained $100 million in trading fees. Since its Jan. 17 launch, $TRUMP has lost most of its value, which is now about $16 per share, down from its $75 peak.

Melania meme coin not doing well either. But we all know who made money off of these 2 meme coins.

Didn't know they were called "meme".

They certainly respond like the internet picture variety.
